"Still making" isn't exactly right, that sort of implies he never stopped making videos. A decade ago he completely stopped making videos, and only in the past couple years has he been posting stuff to his channel again.
I respect people like him and BG Kumbi who refuse to break character even if it makes them look bad to dumb people. A more annoying example would be CopperCab but I think he was just an attention whore.

Like he said, back then YouTube celebs were not "real celebs" the way they can be now, it made more sense back then to try and use his YT fame as a springboard for a Hollywood career. He was legitimately the sixteenth most subscribed to account on the entire site back then, if he had stayed on YouTube and focused on it who knows how popular he could have been. Although that said it's also equally possible people would have just gotten tired of the Daxflame character over time, especially as he got older.
