What's the worst film ever to win top prize at one of the big three festivals? Is it unironically Joker?

What's /film/'s opinion on Inland Empire?

I watched this film last night on a recommendation of this general and it was cute. Good job /film/.

I love that film. It's a really fun watch

dug it. love the low-fi aesthetic. Dern and Irons were great as always. the only thing I felt was out of place was the Sinnerman coda. not that I dislike that segment but it didn't really add much to the Inland Empire experience.

is it streaming anywhere?

I, Daniel Blake

I finally watched a separation
Good but my god was it dicksucked to death undeservedly

tree of life

Why are there so few releases of his 2000s output? Pic related came out only this year, and it's the only one of the death trilogy that actually has an American Blu-ray release. Paranoid Park has one but it's in the wrong aspect ratio

Cringe, you soulless creature

Joker

lol. no, bro.

Roma

Un Lac

Is it the corona quarantine that brings in all the art house homos?

What's bad about it and what did it win

>what's bad about it
It's pretentious bullshit, but literally and unironically for once
>what did it win
Nothing, I just remembered how much of an artistic bait it was and got pissed off

The Shape of Water

I admit I got Lycnhed and Filtered but I’ll also stand by the fact that this is an experimental film and I don’t have to like it because I think it failed in whatever it was trying to accomplish.

I just wrote a 13 page paper on this film for class. AMA

>pretentious
lol

The Shapiro Milkers

was it good?

>artistic bait
Wasn't it just a lite incest film with lot of shaky cam?

>I just wrote a 13 page paper on this film for class. AMA
Let's see it

I'm not sure, I just torrented it. The version I got was the criterion version so it might be on their streaming service.

>I think it failed in whatever it was trying to accomplish.
if you don't know what it was he was trying to accomplish, how can you say it failed? simply because you disliked it does not mean it did not accomplish what the director set out to do.

Link the paper.

You either haven't watched it or you're too dulled by the unnecessary number of times that word gets thrown around to recall that it's an actual criticism
It was an incest film that tried to imitate neurotic spasms I guess you could say.
The only saving grace was the naturalistic aspect

what camera, lenses, and post-production equipment did he use to film and edit IE?

I'm a pleb, what are the big three festivals?

I hope you are not talking about uni.
Studying film is a waste of fucking time.

Cannes, Berlin, and Venice.

>it's an actual criticism
apologies for assuming you were misusing the term like so many others here. so what exactly is pretentious about it? haven't seen it and just curious.
