Even the writer of True Detective says season 1 was the weakest of the trilogy. The ultimate proof that you Rust dick riders got filtered by the following seasons
Even the writer of True Detective says season 1 was the weakest of the trilogy...
He only says that because he knows how much was plagiarized.
he says it because he knows how genius season 2 was
>muh author
Reminder that the artist is the least qualified person to judge their own art
fpbp
What's the name of the gleeful feeling that you've been right all along?
Season 2 is a heaping pile of dogshit and you are stupid.
Writers/Artists literally always think their most recent work is their best.
the plagiarism, great cast and cary fukunaga elevated the fuck out of season 1.
That fucking cope from Pizzalatte
>ignorant
wow he really is stupid. Solidifies that he'll never do anything else good.
He's probably thinking like a writer only. Season 2 and 3 had stories that could have been better, but in written/novel form. But they weren't, they were television shows and season 1 was best executed. We already know he and the season 1 director had a lot of disagreements, in part due to Pizzolatto being a writer through and through that didn't always get how the visual medium should operate.
latte seething because he knows it's true
They always, always do this - in fact artists do this so much I've been meaning to write a paragraph or two so I can just ctrl+v it into future threads of this kind.
The short version is this: directors will often defend their most maligned work and will downplay their most praised one. I think it's a pretty simple case of ego in that if something is validated externally then it needs no love from the creator, but if it's shunned externally then it requires internal praise to place it on the same level as the other one.
I read his Instapost about Batman and Jesus, the guy is an idiot.
The script to True Detective isn't even that great really. It's the directing and acting that make the show so fucking amazing.
Wasn't it about God? Anyhow, the guy probably has a hatred for religion period given that he was raised among Evangelists, so Batman outwitting and owning God is him an axe to grind.
To expand: some of Rust's most powerful monologues and general philosophy was lifted from a writer named Thomas Ligotti and his book The Conspiracy Against The Human Race, specifically. TD S1 is so beloved because of Rust playing cosmic pessimist off Marty, but that's all Ligotti. Piz knows he can't take credit for that so he has to neg.
Season 1, apart from being quintessential part of Mcconaughey renaissance, is pretty fucking OK at best.
If you want a fair, objective appraisal, don't look to the guy who wrote the work.
He says that because season 1 is the most acclaimed solely due to the director and the actors carrying it and he knows it.
Imagine hating your greatest work because it's all anyone really likes. This is what one hit wonder musicians feel like.
True. Season 1 had a single, talented director that Pizza did not get along with particularly well because he wasn't his damn yes man and had creative differences, made changes, etc. I feel as if Fukunaga directed season 3 the pacing would have been much better and it meandered far less with the damn husband and wife arguments. Oh, and the season 3 gunfight was a total mess. Both the scene itself and how much they drew the whole thing out such as ending an episode with it being a cliffhanger (notice how none of the season 1 episodes had shit cliffhangers) and such.
>tfw you get filtered by your own show
the writing is literally the weakest part of True Detective so it's no surprise he's retarded
>woman gets raped
>husband does everything for her
>she wants a divorce and full custody of kid born of rape
>she threatens husband with paternity test to prove son was of rapist and not his
Yeah no. Season 2 was horse shit. No way a raped woman would ever do that.
Fukunaga is a copycat hack too
What a jerk off, hope cary kicks his ass. He knows 3 sucked donkey balls
>filtered
buzzword. nothing else you have to say matters
I mean without the kino delivery by the 2 protagonists, the pacing and the atmosphere, tD S1 is just a set of strong law and order episodes
pizzalato is a hack and should not be allowed any agency over the series
based
cringe
>even the writer of the show totally not biased opinion has a biased opinion!
Into the trash
He comes across as far too arrogant to allow a director to have greater agency when it comes to bringing his scripts to life. This is why he got so damn pissy with Cary.
Fukunaga carried S1 and Pizza knows it
Season 2 is the best season
There's only 7 stories, retard.
tell me why you think season 2 is good. because i can tell you about a million reasons why i think it was bad. starting with tokyo drifting into the moon.
you've obviously never been raped
Just shows that Pizzolatto has no taste and it's no wonder all his other stuff sucks ass.
nic is a fucking moron, glad we got wholesome directors still like /vince/
sarcasm
Galveston is a pretty great book. the film was meh.
