maybe because shows are now ubiquitous. they used to be restricted by weekly release and airing times and now you can get the "edgy deep new show" whenever you want, and everyone is on a different episode or didnt start it or finished it before you did. its market saturation and everyones not on the same page.

GOT had people talking about it constantly, cosplay, conventions and tourist industry revolving around it but the ending killed enthusiasm. GOT season 1-4 is some of the best TV ever made but its hard to rewatch when you know how badly it ends.

the pr strategy surrounding this show has been incredibly successful despite being built entirely on dishonest lies. their target audience just doesnt know any better

I just read Sword of Destiny after having seen the show when it came out. Holy shit, the books are literally, *literally*, 1000x better. The show is a rancid turd in comparison. I can't be the only one who did this, so that's why the show just fizzled out... it cannot even come close to having an impact as big as the games and the books. It's like putting what a kindergartener drew during recess next to a Dalí painting.

It was just mass advertising, there where adverts for it everywhere. Apparently a lot of people watched it but the amount of money they spent on making people aware of it could have probably made the show 3 times over. Adverts on the sides of buses, billboards, on those electronic posters in shops, on youtube constantly, paid bloggers and getting the cast to do the talk show circuit.

witcher was only the "most viewed" at the time because they changed the way they count views exactly when it aired. you no longer had to watch 70% of a show, instead only the first 2 minutes. everything surrounding this show is dishonest

The sad thing is this completely killed the importance of diversity in Witcher, because everybody is so diverse that nobody is actually really diverse
