Assuming you're just talking about Half Life 1, the story in the game is a very basic plot.
Characters don't really exist. There are some scientists with extended exposition lines explaining what you need to do and that's about it. The antagonist is "The government" which sends marines in to kill you as well as the alien overlord who tries to invade Earth with his minions.
Both of these are just faceless opponents.
A bunch of new and existing characters would need to be created or expanded upon with the purpose of having them interact with Gordon on a regular basis, which would make it feel very odd.
It would end up being like the Doom movie.
At the end of the day an adaptation would only have the plot and main character in common. Everything else would need to be invented to tell an engaging story for the general public.
Half Life 2 would be easier to accommodate as it has a more tangible antagonist and also the chick that follows you around most of the time.
The setting of the TV show "Colony" is almost identical to Half Life 2, you should check it out.

If we’re talking a Half Life movie I wouldn’t have it feature Gordon, Adrian, Alyx or any of the other protagonists, except maybe through a brief cameo like Gordon shredding enemies on a security camera feed or something. You’d have to make it with entirely new characters.
