is it a Final Fantasy movie?
Is this the one with the ghosts and the marines fighting them? It was decent iirc.
Literally everyone dies. Saved you an hour and change
Is that "The Spirit(s) Within"? I watched it when it came out on video, i'd never heard of final fantasy before, and I thought it was good. I was young though of course.
It really doesn't have a lot to do with the games. I personally thought it was just okay, but if we're talking about the Final Fantasy movies, then I say that Kingsglaive is definitely much better looking, and it's a lot more satisfying than The Spirits Within.
which Final Fantasy game is this about?
That was Titan AE
>original plot and original setting
>no common gameplay elements since it's a movie
What the fuck is Final Fantasy about it?
no idea i never played any ff game
>Final Fantasy movie
doesn't every final fantasy game have a different setting and characters?
>videogame movies directly adapt specific entries of a series
This almost never happens you dipshit.
Yes but sharing common elements with previous FF stories isnt enough fr these autists. Mana and gaia and all that bullshit, characters named CID, these things aren't enough. It's not final fantasy unless the main character pulls out the buster sword and uses omnislash.
The early ones had different characters and a somewhat different setting, but they all revolved around the crystals. Then IIRC 7 onwards it was totally different, until X which got X-2 and XIII which had sequels.
they literally just slapped the name on it because the writer also wrote Final Fantasy and it would help ticket sales
Which common elements does this movie share?
Other than mana and Gaia, which are generic fantasy as fuck.
Does it have chocobos and airships? Are there even swords?
Yeah man when Squaresoft who was only known for Final Fantasy founded a film company and set out to make a high budget CGI movie, then hired the creator of Final Fantasy to write and direct, the Final Fantasy branding was definitely an afterthought.
You couldn't possibly be more of a fucking idiot if you tried.
There's a character named Cid, the mako and lifestream concept is lifted from ff7 under a different name, there are guns swords and airships used to fight fantastical creatures. I'm sure there's more direct references I'm not remembering.
No chocobos that I remember but someone does wear chocobo pajamas.
KEK, what a fool
>as far as association with the game, I was producing the film without having that in mind, but because Mr Sakaguchi is really the creator of Final Fantasy, and he is just so strongly associated with the game it just became a natural progression that this movie was named after it and became what it was, which is Final Fantasy the movie. I guess my motivation wasn't to turn the game into a film
I don't think there's any swords in the movie. It's literally just a scifi flick with guns and shit
felt like the movie was just a benchmark for cgi achievements rather than any intentional storytelling.
all i remember is alien-gaia-meteor crashed into earth and the world was going to end with alien-gaia killing earth-gaia.
also steve buscemi
I remember seeing this at the theater. The novelty of the "realistic" CGI wore off after the first 15 minutes, and the movie itself was boring as shit.
>I dont think
You're wrong. Go watch the movie if you cant remember.
got a screenshot? It must be a small part of the film because all I remember are guns and google doesn't show any different
No it wasn't, but that was a significantly better movie than this shit.
Seriously? The guy who produced the video games since the first one was at the helm of this movie. it was his baby. He played it so close to his chest that its failure led to his leaving the company soon after, even with his pedigree.
Nah, it was this movie. the ghosts are orange, and if they touch you you die. I remember the guy lets them into the city for some reason and tons of people die.
This movie was such a big deal for Square. The movie was just the beginning of a series of projects that were supposed to elevate Square from merely being a games software company. The 3D actress would be reused on commercials, shows and other films.
To be fair to them this will probably be common and normal in 10 or 15 years. You kind of already have it with henati chaturbate streamers.
absolutely, they should've made a series instead to pace out the plot and flesh out the characters more but it's still a nice movie
The CGI actually hasn't aged too terribly, I was expecting it to be awful. I remember this movie having a good voice cast, might have to rewatch
