You can use shields in Arrakeen and Carthag and everywhere else within the wormless shield wall basin, which is pretty much where all the fighting takes place..

I was excited to see Villeneuve's take on Dune but the more I see of it the more disappointed and repelled I am. Everything looks so bland and by the numbers, where's my exotic and distant far future? Where's my fantastical costumes? Do they not have colours anymore in the future, everything is just shades of grey and brown?

I'm so bored of 'muh gritty realism' from a narrow-minded, limited and ultimately fucking boring 21st century perspective.

Guess I'll go back to reading weird obscure comic books. Anyone got some recommendations for a person who enjoyed Metabarons, Transmetropolitan, The Incal, and most of the material printed in 2000AD (Dredd included)?

Fremen seriously lack resources. They do some weird chemistry on sand worm droppings / spice or whatever to make almost everything they have including the stillsuits.

They literally have green/blue/black colored full religious clothing and colorful pillows in the books. So they obviously don't lack the resources to make good clothing.

I'm not referring to the Fremen, their colours being dull and muted is a given in my mind (although their blankets and fabrics that they decorate seitchs with would be somewhat colourful). I'm thinking about the Atreides and all their attendants, what we've seen of them so far is boring. Boring armour, boring suits, boring everything. Makes me wonder just how much they'll fuck up the Harkonnens and the Emperor.

If the Emperor doesn't look like a regal human peacock then Villeneuve clearly doesn't get this book.

There are lots of colors in organic chemistry. Not saying they couldn't have colorful things, but it's all made of worm castings
