Holy fuck. Is there any more brutal film about social atomization and moral decay than this? The sense of depravity and rootlessness among the youth here feels prophetic about where society would go in the coming decades.
The scene where the two of them run around chasing each other on the roof felt like a desperate attempt to recapture a sort of lost innocence that modernity has taken away from them early. The line about the comic book also plays into this idea.
What Wakamatsu should I watch next?
