They're not going to let him do anything. They fired the old director because he wanted to do something non-MCU, making it lovecraftian horror.
They make two films now: generic MCU quipfest and GotG retro musical adventures. Maybe they'll make another 'mistake' and give a director free reign with an unknown cast but that doesn't seem likely given Eternals looks set to be MCU quipfest.

It's mostly about him fighting some Russian street thugs and no super hero magic stuff.

All they did was selfishly leave their own universe and defeat a Thanos from a different universe during a risky confrontation that only occurred due to their own incompetence. They're fuckups who couldn't accept they failed.
