>that kino primus performance at their peak

MURDEREEEEEEEEEEEERR

it wasn't that bad. I can still enjoy nu shit when my buddies are listening to it. Like you said, nowadays it's half asleep jigs grunting. No one will remember this era of mainstream music fondly.

Never understood the dislike for Nu Metal. I'm not going to claim it's highest of high art, or anything like that, but given what directly followed it was "The Bands" who were all so creatively bankrupt they were all retro bands with retro costuming and retrosounds that brought nothing new to the table, and "Emo" bands who did the same thing as Nu Metal, essentially, only they were whiny drama queens about it instead of aggressive and pissed off while combining two separate genres into a new hybrid genre, actually creating something. Hell Metal or Rock fused with anything from Rap to Hip Hop to R&B to Funk and even Reggae. The most interesting thing about "Nu Metal" is how many of the bands under that label never intended to be metal of any kind, and the actual variety of genres packed under the Nu Metal label is actually quite immense with a diverse audience and set of artists before modern forced progressive/diversity was ever a thing, back then they just were diverse with female vocalists, instrumentalists, and black and brown arts under the "nu metal genre" from cultures all around the world stretching from the US and Canada to Central and South America to Europe, Russia and even Asia. Yet people acted like it was "angry white boy" music and pretended every nu metal artist was basically Fred Durst.

I'm not going to defend Limp Bizkit, I'm just pointing out the scene was vast, but somehow got watered down to, "limp bizkit white boy angry". It was a damn shame.

Not my thing nowdays but was this the last genre to really shake things up?

Creed > your favorite band

Last metal based one too. There have been some great metal genres since then, don't get me wrong, damn good stuff, but nothing that smashed charts and made people take notice invite those sorts of followings or bring that sort of ire. In a way, Nu Metal's worst enemy was its popularity. There have been plenty of worse metal genres that don't get even a salt particle of the hate because they just never took off. Popularity will bring more ire to a thing than anything else, and for metal? Metal is underground and purists really like it that way. Popularity is basically a death sentence and invites the sort of bile even Yas Forums barely musters for things from its elitists (who quite frankly carry more weight than they should).

Nu Metal never really even died. The artists are still kicking they just aren't headlining like at the height of the genre.

I don't know a single person who would willing listen to this era of music, yet I see these off-topic threads posted on here daily. Is it really just the same people making all the threads?

Don't matter. Nu metals gonna make a come back one day. People just gonna have to learn to live with it.

This style died in late 2000s but is kind of making a small comeback now. Some bands are still as popular as ever. Bizzarely Slipknot not only survived but became one of the biggest bands in the world. Limp Bizkit was never top tier but I have to say that Woodstock concert was pretty cool.

Is that the guy from Sum 41?

>Bizzarely Slipknot not only survived but became one of the biggest bands in the world.
do you know a single person that isnt over 30 or under 16 that listens to slipknot?

de Gea loves them.

Not sure where he got the idea Slipknot achieved "biggest band in the world" status. Even at their peak popularity they were opening for Metallica.

It's a pretty universal thing I noticed. Some bands are large enough that they're not exclusive to just some demographics. I remember seeing the elderly, old school rockers, kids.

LB still rocking to this day
