if it saved him why did he flop down and stay unconscious like a bitch? conveniently for the time it took to reveal the chainmail?

>Mithril
>Elven chainmail

Bilbo bequeathed Frodo the mithril chainmail in Rivendell, i.e some time after having been stabby-stabbed by the witch king.

Isn't shelob some kind of demigod

Groinal injury?

He didn't have the elven chainmail there, though.

she gave him a suppository

that's hot

I was watching fellowship yesterday and I gotta say the Nazgul are fucking useless sacks of shit. 0 cunning, 0 skill in combat, can't track for shit and can barely ride their horses.

I can barely count the amount of times that they could've killed Frodo and took the ring from his small cold dead hands, but this dude comes at him and stabs him in the shoulder? And then they all get btfo by one lad with a sword and a torch? Shit like this is why I can't get into LotR, cool lore and worldbuilding but the story is so fucking juvenile.

Chainmails aren't made to completely block a sword. They deflect the sword away from the impact point to eventually rip over non vital body parts. Frodo was injured in the shoulder region which proves my point.

you wouldn't be very inteligent if you were undead slave suffering for three thousand years

No. Chainmail is made specifically to block a sword, though an axe or spear without enough force behind the strike (say on horseback at full gallop) might pierce it, though getting through mail and the gambeson underneath is a bit tricky

Read the books, Tolkien states that the power of the nazgul is fear, and when someone confronts them with enough courage, they are powerless. They are like the fantasy super Gestapo

mods don't want us asking the hard questions i see

What did the post say user?

If anything the troll stabbing him should have killed him from the compression of his chest

Aragorn has anime tier power levels though. All the good guys in his bloodline have (fate, monomyth, and all that), because they are the descendants of Melian who was a Maia herself. Elendil wrestled Sauron to a mutual kill while Sauron was wearing the goddamn One Ring, that's how powerful they are.

The Nazgul are just undead mortals raised by Sauron's magic, so obviously they cannot compete. Not even against Glorfindel (Sir Not-Appearing-in-Any-Adaptation), who despite being an Elf not of Maiar blood was so hardcore that after he was slain in a fight against a literal army of balrogs, he reincarnated himself after a trip to the Halls of Mandos.

Asked why shelob could pierce mithril

kek seriously wtf why was that deleted

Elrond, Gil-Galad and Elendil all fought with Sauron
Based Glorfindel appear in LotRo

Seriously fuck jannies. This is what happens when a jannitor paid nothing is given absolute power

jannie fapped to Shelob in Shadow of War so this question annoyed him and made his blood pressure rise, which is dangerous since he is obese

he wasn't wearing it then

it was only later when the goblin got him

>when someone confronts them with enough courage, they are powerless. They are like the fantasy super Gestapo
I didn't realize the Gestapo had that weakness.

More to do with the first part "the power of the nazgul is fear," with the Gestapo deriving most of their power and authority from the fear they instilled in their lessers. If WWII was fantasy, then they would be defeated by courage, and their powers would cease once the awesome last sword duel between Hitler and Eisenhower was over

its better in the books. Of course if you compare them to contemporary evil minions from other settings in games they look like jobbers

The Gestapo would drag you out and shoot you. That's why people were afraid.

A do-nothing ghost would quickly lose it's fear cachet.

if i saw knight ghost who can turn people into undead slave i would run from him

The Nazgul rekt normal men, and the witch king was even able to scare Gandalf, though Aragorn, as put it, was a big boy who could stand up to them.

In short, they would pull you out and suck your soul from your body, or turn you into one of them unless you were magical and cool.

He should have died from the traumatic force of the Cave Troll's spear. The armor was light and flexible and couldn't be pierced, like a shirt made of Kevlar.

But if I stab you with a spear and put 2000lbs of force behind it, your organs will be squashed and your bones snapped, even if the material doesn't penetrate.

Minor point, but when I saw that I thinking yea, he'd actually still be a dead little Hobbit.

the attack was clearly of armor piercing type, and the mithril grants a buff that gives 100% ignore against attackers armor penetrating attacks, not to mention large internal HP regen value which meant that any blunt damage would also be healed fast.

to be fair I would be more afraid of magic evil ghost than gestapo, ghosts are spooky

The troll didn't look like it put too much force into the spear stab though desu (it wielded that spear like a chimp wields a stick). Also, mithril is magic, so who knows the extent of its defensive properties

But at his size and strength, even a casual poke carried way more force than a human. And Hobbits are only half sized anyway. Think "casual" jab from a mountain gorilla into a 6 year old body.. ouch

Would be fun to see a Mythbusters segment on it.
