Everyone universally agrees that Season 8 was shit (Season 5,6 and 7 were as well btw) the Redpill is that ultimately no matter how this show ended it was going to end in dissapointment.
Half of Game of Thrones was intrigue, scheming and wondering what was going to happen next. Autists have spent 10 years coming up with fan theories, over analysing every line of text and arguing with each other.
No ending was going to satisfy that level of expectation. The Night King was probably always going to be defeated one way or another. Now that you know half the scenes in Season 1 lose all tension because they are just building up how scary the White Walkers are.
