Because making a movie about fascism when you have to eventually talk to Jews about the issue. That makes it hard to make a movie about a fascist dictator who objectively liked Jews and tried to convince Hitler to spare them but eventually became more and more antisemitic as the years progressed.

Because, you know, it's kind of hard to show that without giving pro-antisemitic rhetoric which doesn't just come across as neurosis. I guess they could try to blame Hitler "threatening" Mussolini somehow.

Hitler hated Mussolini. if he had his choice of allies Italy would be near the bottom. it was the English he liked, being Germanic and having impressed him with their bravery when he was in the trenches against them in WW1

Other way around, Hitler liked Mussolini but not vice versa. Hitler was a big fan of the whole "March on Rome" thing he did. He just didn't like that Mussolini wasn't anti-semitic or genuinely racialist.

Seeing how Mussolini ended up makes you realise Hitler was right to end things the way he did
