Because Faulconer's score absolutely mogs the shit out of the Japanese OST and fits the tone of the show so much much. Its a show about stupidly strong space warriors/aliens beating the fuck out of each other and blowing shit up. Cheesy synth rock is a much better fit than goofy horns

Having the show start with words that the viewer doesn't understand would instantly alienate a massive amount of viewers. Dragon Ball Z was targeted at a normal youth audience so they needed to make the theme English or else 90% of the audience would just change the channel.
They could get away with keeping the japanese theme on more weeb shows but not DBZ
