But he is totally undeserving of sympathy. He's a prick to everyone, yet we're supposed to root for him to get redeemed with his new qt gf that he kidnapped? It's a movie that makes apologies for abusive men by making them seem deep and wounded when they're actually just assholes that make life harder for everyone else around them.

Kind of like how Lars Von Trier tortures the female leads in his films because he wants to show the struggle of being a woman, or whatever excuse, when he really just gets off on punishing "innocent" women. And then afterward he has the gall to say that we're the real monsters who crush naivety and girlish beauty from the world, when he's the asshole punishing it with glee in every one of his movies.

I actually tried to empathize with the people that walked off that screening and I think they were right. They got nothing from this movie, on the contrary.

His movie was basically "look at how cool and unhappy I am, also look at my dick and at this hot model who gave me a blowjob".
