Why do you think no other series comes close to season 1 of True Detective? Even the following seasons from the same creator didn't compare to how great S1 was
Fuck bros i just wanna more mystery kino with deep characters in midwest America shithole vistas
>Why do you think no other series comes close to season 1 of True Detective? Fargo nigga
John Cox
>Why do you think no other series comes close to season 1 of True Detective? Because few have the balls to do an anthology series and take the risks and good miniseries are rare. You know there are people screaming that they should have gone to full series and a full cast with S1. You know they are saying it would have been Breaking Bad meets X-Files >but muh woody and matthew macomey are expensive they would have wanted to scale them back or write them out in later seasons like Anthony Hopkins in Westworld. In other words, it would have been more like every other show had they not limited it. No other series wants to "leave money on the table". They want to ring every dollar out of everything that takes off then discard it.

Unironically it was Mcconaughey's performance that made the ENTIRE series. Woody was serviceable as a sideplot vehicle. Without Matt, there is no True Detective: Season 1 or thereafter.
Cameron Parker
While McConaughey was the star, to denigrate Harrelson's performance to being 'serviceable' is utterly pleb. If you've ever done professional acting before you'll know that the quality of one's performance does rely hugely on your co-stars and the chemistry between both leads was mesmerising.
Tyler Bennett
I'm too lazy to look for one, but I hope someone made a supercut of Woody glaring at Matt.
Aaron Walker
Farrell gave it his all, and it was all kino until the ridiculous cocaine punk scene. That was the meme point.
Ian Walker
It's the most culturally and geographically unique state of the contiguous 48 and you lump it in with the midwest.
Ryan Hughes
yes, with subs
Ayden Garcia
>Louisiana >midwest Euro detected
Tyler Myers
Ok, I'll give you that he was 'good' instead of 'serviceable.' There are plenty of actors that could've pulled off 'good.' But Mcconaughey stole the show.
Cameron Jenkins
>*purses lips* >*juts jaw* >*stares at you intensely*
Harrelson is a hack
Owen Reyes
>spent the last months in repeat drinking myself to sleep while watching TD clips
Yes, but much of that was simply to do with his character being far more interesting and attractive. The fact that Harrelson didn't even try to steal the show reveals his professionalism as an actor.
Levi Barnes
seconding you man, loved season 2, unironically liked vaughns acting too liked s1 as well but I just don’t think it’s the perfection that everyone makes it out to be
Thomas Martinez
Wich MEME dude?
Gabriel Ross
I did. I felt like it was trying too hard to be interesting with the whole doppelgänger storyline. It just was too disconnected from the central plot.
Xavier Rodriguez
I love season 2 dude, the Velcoro's bad parenting is SO HEARTBREAKING but i wish the girl "BEEZEEREEDEES" I think, would have much more protagonist.
I don't think that. I think True Detectives is insanely overrated and not worth a fraction of the praise it got.
Daniel Hughes
Yeah, Sharp Objects is good. Almost like the female version of TD S1.
John Collins
The incoherent and cringy ramblings of Cohle are worthy of a 15 year old, not to mention they are literally plagiarised off from a book call "Conspiracy against all mankind". The whole "pedophile cult" trope has been done to hell, nothing special. The big reveal with the incestual serial killer was botched because he was so uninteresting as a person. The Lovecraft references ultimately went nowhere. All in all it was hot garbage. The only good part of was Alexandra daddario topless sex scene.
X-files is far superior.

yikes bro, and I say that as someone who enjoys the x-files
