Rurouni Kenshin wasn't good. How on earth do people think that? Looks like a bunch of cosplayers acting in a movie which is the problem with JPN. The anime make characters' hair a slight exaggeration of real hair, and then when people cosplay them, they go off those exaggerated features rather than going for a more human look. Apart from aesthetics, the acting wasn't as good and the story was fumbled.

That doesn't change the argument desu. I just find it ridiculous that a person named Tanaka Shigechi is somehow some white person all because of some artists collectively deciding their fantasy world should have people appear more diverse (hair color and eyes). Instead of accepting this idea that anime people are some fantasy where magically purple, pink, teal, green, etc.. hair exists, they're attributed to white people who also do not have those hair colors? Why? Well it's not their names, their language, their culture on display, nor is it their hair, or noses, it's because of their skin color even though Asians are obsessed with skin whitening.
I would believe they're Asian before I believe they're white desu. There is more evidence for that. But really, my true stance is that they're fucking drawings that don't reflect reality. I have no reason to make them some real world counterpart unless the anime/manga makes it clear they are.
I don't have a problem with people calling Joseph Joestar white for example. I'll probably get annoyed when Hues call Luffy Brazilian or something when there is literally no such thing as Brazil in OP.

There is good source material. The problem is that a lot of JPN production likes to be extremely faithful in appearance where they now don't look like actual humans and instead look like poorly cosplayed characters. Western companies take trash stories and make a live action out of it. Edge of Tomorrow is a good one, but it changed a lot and wasn't stuck in between being faithful and trying to appeal to the West.
