I've always liked the early seasons of Mythbuster, with Jamie and Adam spitballing ideas, trying, failing, and going back to the drawing board. Later seasons are just over produced crap with all of the process cut out. As fun as the B team were, no one else on the show was as polished a presenter as Adam.

They were there to provide more content and fill out showtime. It appealed to a wider audience, instead of loyalists who just like to watch Adam and Jamie muck about.

This. Jamie did seem boring and stubborn at times but when you rewatch it you realize Adam must have been incredibly annoying to work with. I think Adam was treating it more like he was a presenter and Jamie thought of himself as an engineer than a personality.
