Alien Covenant is based

SPOILERS:
>Beheads the (admittedly qt) Jewess
>Kills the coalburner and her black fuckboi

Really though, this movie was cool. I liked Prometheus even when people didn't so I when I heard people didn't like Covenant I knew it didn't mean much. The scenery, the characters, and the action were cool as shit. Sad about Shaw being dead though, and David is an ass.

What does Yas Forums think?

>Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Kino

I literally can't get over how he just genocides all the engineers and they do absolutely nothing about it and apparently have aboslutley no agency whatsoever

It feels like a plot asspull so they didn't have to deal with them as a plot point, and could just make Alien again

We see for the first time in this universe a planet with civilisation and intelligent aliens and we dont get to see any of it for more than a second, befor epeing plunged back into a formulaic retread of the first Alien.

I actually LIKE the movie, but I can't get over how it feels like the lazy route being taken to avoid the risky move of making an awesome plot involving engineers.

Like, the Engineer was the most interesting part of Prometheus and then its straight back to, lel, nah,. just le alien monster and le evil robot, SAME AS THE SAFE CHOICES IN THE FRANCHISE.

It screams of low risk choices

There were lots of scrapped ideas that were great, apparently Netflix was making a AVP animated series but it got canned because of disney

>I literally can't get over how he just genocides all the engineers and they do absolutely nothing about it and apparently have aboslutley no agency whatsoever
>all the engineers
those weren't the Engineers. just another planet seeded by the Engineers. it's why the people look part human and part Engineer

The middle of Covenant - all the scenes between David and Walter - are kino.
The rest is a bore that's a result of Ridley kneeling to Xeno fandom and abandoning what he started in Prometheus for muh creatures

>The rest is a bore that's a result of Ridley kneeling to Xeno fandom and abandoning what he started in Prometheus for muh creatures
It was a studio mandate in response to Ridley being an autistic cunt & using his pull to get Blomkamp's sequel killed. They made him stick the xenomorphs in, so Ridley fucking threw a tantrum & tried to make the Xeno shit as terrible as he could.

David's actor is unironically the best actor in the business right now.

It's like Yul Brynner in Westworld.
>a man pretending to be a robot pretending to be a man
David's character and his inability to be human while coincidently being more human than anyone is astounding to me.

can't believe i'm responding to a tripfag but if that's true he's even more based than i thought
we don't deserve Ridley

This and Prometheus are unironically the thinking man's entries to the Alien series.

Is riddly scott dementia ridden to the extent where he fucking forgot to explain this?

Show don't tell. It was obvious.

(You) got filtered

Habeeb it.
And I hope it was worth it to him to get the other sequels he had planned cancelled, just to get someone who seemingly had an actual vision for a sequel pretty much everyone was at least interested in cancelled & then acting like an unprofessional toddler even harder.

>tripfag
>shills Blomkamp's Alien
r/movies is that way

Personally, I'm not interested in any other Alien movies except for these prequels.

The fact that there are multiple threads every day still talking about the lore says a lot when even newer, more loved movies are forgotten.

Far comfier here
And Blomkamp's sequel might've turned out to be a massive pile of shit, but it certainly wasn't worth Ridley table flipping all of his future plans to kill.
If anything it turning out to be shit would've massively boosted interest in where Ridley was trying to go.
We'll never know about any of it now though. He ultimately only hurt himself.

And with that, I've had fun for a couple hours with a trip made up for the "Meanwhile on Future Yas Forums" thread, but that's enough of that.

quoting Ozymandias is peak midwit and has been done countless times
it's the equivalent of a villain listening to classical music while drinking wine

Blomkamp was a one trick pony. Would have been trash with WY being an evil corporation as the main plot without being subtle.
The audience who whined about Prometheus for it's lack of Xenos and daring to try something different deserved to be punished and withheld Blomkamp's take, and deserve to never see where Ridley was taking the series.

You missed the point of the quote then.

I'm a villain and I do all these things.

But as with all petty, obsessively driven bullshit; he hurt himself far more than he hurt anyone else with all of it. The killing Blomkamp's shit was one thing, the intentionally making the mandated Xeno shit terrible was just brain dead.
He could've easily found a way to incorporate it now, as he planned to eventually do in the series anyway, satisfactorily to both himself and the studio.

not only does David quote the poem out of context, but he incorrectly credits the wrong writer.
it went way over your head. the point was to show that at the end of the day David, despite thinking he is superior to humans, is still just a robot created by humans and limited by what they programed him with. all his attempts to create a superior species on his level are in vein because he is still beneath humans.

He didn't hurt anyone but the audience. And the audience deserved it. Fuck them for ruining what Prometheus set up.

Fuck off namefag

Rip jewess qt

>He didn't hurt anyone but the audience
Yes, he didn't waste years of his life sketching out this series & toss all of that work in the garbage, never being able to prove that he had any plan that would've worked out satisfactorily & made sense in the end.
The only thing most are going to remember about this shit is how he killed one movie & table flipped his own series out of spite.
Even sadder because I fucking wanted to see where he was going, as well as if Blomkamp could even pull the shit he was planning off.

>her black fuckboi
Smollet

Exactly. Ridley is based as fuck. Burned everything to the ground and threw the infant out with the toilet water just to spite all of us. Did you even see The Counselor?

I'm always going to prefer the thing attempted earnestly & ultimately made to the thing not made out of crusty cantankerousness, but we'll have to agree to disagree there.
>Did you even see The Counselor?
No, but I'm downloading it now. Thanks.
