I'm starting film school soon and need a laptop that fits these minimum requirements but I don't know jack shit about computer specs and everything I look at has components which have different names but nothing tells me if it's better than the minimum specs or not in a way that someone who doesn't know anything about specs can understand.
Minimum Specs:
i7/i9 2.3 GHz 6 Core Processor or higher 16 GB RAM or higher 1 TB Hard Drive or higher Nvidia RTX3000 Graphics Card or higher
Cheapest option is ideal but I've saved up enough to afford anything that's not dummy expensive.

Former filmschoolfag reporting, why do you need a laptop? Even if you're doing post, don't they have labs for that? I can't imagine needing one for anything other than Premiere or Protools (if they cut on Avid at your school there's no way you can do that on your own on a laptop). And even then, a 5 year old Macbook Pro will do either of those just fine.

Buy a desktop in parts using pcpartspicker. get a ryzen1600af Rx 580 8gb- used b350m motherboard 16gb ddr4 that works with the board. 1tb hdd 250gb ssd 600 watt psu case to fit it in, don't spend more than $50
