I'm too much of a middlebrow midwit to get into silent films, sorry
It's legitimately about how other races can't get their shit together so the white man should intervene. This movie predicted the apartheid.
yeah man it's obviously ironically racist.
If you think this point is film, you missed the racist
nobody on Yas Forums has seen this including OP
Just like nobody here has seen Citizen Kane, right? We're all just pretending to be into film :)
I know a three hour long silent film about the Civil War sounds boring as fuck, but it's actually very entertaining and emotionally moving. The beginning is a little slow, but once the war starts, it's pure kino

I don't mind that it's 3 hours or about the civil war, it's the silent part. My brain needs dialogue and sound effects to maintain interest. I've seen Gone With the Wind like 6 times
People like you are the reason Yas Forums is shit. Everybody thinks that everybody else are just as much of a pleb as they are.
Remember the autist in that one classic movie thread who was convinced everyone was just pretending because "no one could possibly like old movies." And he just went on and on trying to convince people they didn't actually like the movies they said they liked. Wew, that was something
Anyone got screenshots of this?
You'll get used to it if you watch more and find films you love. Silent films do have dialogue (in intertitles), and all modern releases have good music as well (some fit specifically to the film to act almost like sound effects).
It's narcissism
>I think like this, therefore everyone thinks like this, and anyone who disagrees is just lying
Watch The Passion of Joan of Arc.
I've tried, I've really tried. Chaplin, Buster Keaton, 1920s horror like Phantom of the Opera, Cat and the Canary, Nosferatu. I have to stay standing just to keep from falling asleep
What a fucking read.
Jesus. Personally I can't imagine watching only modern films, or even to a great proportion. Maybe it's because I still haven't watched all the classics yet but I barely watch new releases anymore.
My brain fucking hurts
Casino a damn solid movie though, I'll give him that
There's a narrated version of Chaplin's The Gold Rush you might wanna check out. Not Chaplin's best in my opinion, but still a great film. Also Modern Times has some sound dialogue and sound effects
>implying i'm not the only person on the planet who knows the universal truth
Definitely going to second The Passion of Joan of Arc if you haven't seen it
Reminder that Raoul Walsh played Booth in this, and was thus immortalized on the poster before he even became a famous director.
>dude it's not racist
>....niggers are just subhuman and it's our duty to cull them!
Okay, OP you nutter.
>dude remember???
>it's a week old
user for the love of god get a clue and hit the showers.
That's not what the message was, though. It was an historical piece meant not to depict the blacks of the time it came out, but the blacks during Reconstruction. Taking recently freed slaves who know of no work besides tending to fields and putting them in positions of political power is just absurd. The Northerners knew this, and only did it because they were pissed at the South for trying to secede
You sound a little defensive. Sounds like you might be the faggot with bad opinions.
Yeah, it's totally not racist
The goal of the Northerners was to crush the White South under the heel of the Black South. The whites who fought for the Union but were now living in the South accepted the Cameron family because they were being attacked by power hungry black officers. If a black family had accepted another black family to protect them from violent whites, and there was a line about "them defending their black heritage," no one would have any problems with it
If you think the word 'racist' means anything, you missed the point.
