Did Gandalf know about the Balrog? If so why the fuck did he go into Moria? It was more dangerous than any other possible route.

Not if they tiptoed their way through. Unfortunately he didnt account for the class clown being on their team

Did you miss BOTH of the scenes where he said he didn't want to go through fucking Moria?

he was confident that if they were careful and didn't stir up the goblin army then they would be find, but it was essentially his last choice. the retard hobbit didn't wake up the balrog, the giant army zerg rushing everywhere woke up the balrog

And he still went in.

They tried to cross a frozen mountain range before turning back to go through Moria, it was the last option scenario and unfortunately they had to take it. He knew it was a bad move but it was the only one they had left.

where you just fucking beating off and playing Candy Crush the entire movie? Did you even watch the movie?

Saruman explicitly forshadows the Balrog so obviously Gandalf knew about it, however I'm certain he was more worried about the fucking army of goblins.

And he still did it. What a retard.

maybe if the hobbits would wear some fucking shoes they could have made it through the snowy parts I KNOW THEY KNOW WHAT SHOES ARE JUST MAKE THEM BIGGER TO FIT THEIR FAT HAIRY FUCKING SAUSAGE FEET

It was a chance of possible death versus guaranteed death on the mountain.

he didnt. he knew moria was bad news but not that a balrog is lurking there

What about the Gap of Rohan, or south through Enedwaith?

>didn't explain why they should avoid the mines
>wasted time by forgetting the password, leading to the kraken attack
>wasted more time reading that fucking book
>wasted more time taunting the thing instead of just nuking the bridge
They were all retarded but it was mostly Gandalf's own fault.

It gets too close to Isengard

>he knew moria was bad news but not that a balrog is lurking there
It’s explicitly foreshadowed that he knows the balrog is there.

I mean he did kill it and save Middle Earth afterwards... a lot of people seem to be omitting that fact in this thread.

cite the passage from the book

They would have had to go by Isengard, and that wasn't really a good idea.

YES HE FUCKING DID RETARD

DID YOU FUCKING PEOPLE WATCH THIS MOVIE? SARUMAN TELLS GANDALF A BALROG GOT WOKEN UP THERE. HE KNOWS THE MINES ARE DANGEROUS AS FUCK, BUT THEY COULDN'T THE TIME IT WOULD TAKE TO GO ALL THE FUCKING WAY AROUND THE MOUNTAINS. HE KNEW THE SITUATION WAS FUCKED, BUT HE HAD TO AT LEAST TRY TO GO THROUGH AND HOPE TO DODGE THE BALROG

Why don't you go back to your book board with your book opinions, book poster?

cool down nerd and dilate

we're talking about the movie, this is Yas Forums. if you wish to discuss the book you should try /lit/

their feet being cold was never an issue, you retarded fuck
serously you knuckle-dragging retard nigger faggot abortion

It's still about the material, which should be taken from both sources.

Seems like a better option than a Balrog.

in that case you should realise that it was foreshadowed for the viewer and not for gandalf. not so hard

>a few hours vs. spending weeks going around the mountains while getting close to Isengard

Why did't Gandalf just get the eagles to fly them over the mountain?

Not really, no. Sarumon would have found them in a heartbeat and sicced his urukhai on them. Remember the end of the Fellowship where they get swamped with them? Imagine that but trying to cross an entire countryside the whole time.

It was up to Frodo actually.

And after frodos decision gandalfs reaction is like...."ah god fuckin damn it"

Getting caught by an agent of Sauron is infinitely worse than dying somewhere deep in the mines of Moria and having the ring be lost as opposed to literally taken from you

>make an absolutely clueless and braindead thread
>calls people nerds when they point out very basic information that can be picked up on a single watch of the movie

>a few hours
It actually takes them like three or four days.

He had safely been through Moria many times. Going through was his idea, Aragorn (who had also used the same route before) opposed it.

seething tranny just stop. book chads are talking

>"YOU know what they awoke in the deep, shadow and flame"

The passage of time in the movie is not very clear. In the book it describes them setting up camp and gives you a better idea, but in the movie for all we know it was an hour trip.

If pippin wasn't retarded and they didn't rile up the goblins they would have been fine

no we aren't. We're on Yas Forums. We're talking about the movies. I've read the books plenty of times

thats silly because the books and the movies contradict each other several times, the only relevant discussion of the books pertaining to the movies is how well they were adapted and in that case there isn't much of a discussion to be had, its either yes or no (were they well adapted)

You're talking to a fa/tg/uy that loves contradictory sources and likes debating over it.

I doubt you can read

you as in you the viewer

Real question here:
Why didn't Gandalf disguised as woman and made a schtick to make the Balrog trip on the bridge instead of showing his power level and forcing a fight?

>SARUMAN TELLS GANDALF
Lmao based retard.

dilate

>you as in you the viewer
no

>you as in you the viewer
Saruman is not Deadpool.

Hold on i feel bad for you so let me explain. When saruman gives that speech hes just thinking outloud. Its not a past conversation they had or anything like that its just exposition for the audience

Movie Gandalf is a total retard and jobs to literally anything

you're fucking retarded

>when you are a demigod wizard school dropout and don't know how to make portals

why didn't Gandalf ever use his flame powers in LotR like he did in the Hobbit? Tokien is a hack.

fair enough but we aren't discussing that, we're strictly discussing the film.

There were rumors but not confirmed exactly what it was that was awakened and slaughtered the dwarfs, gandlf had been that way before alone and felt a great dread but did not encounter it

he gets super weakened in his human shaped form which is why Eru thought it was super hype when he tries extra hard and beats the Balrog and sends him back
