talent

Takes too much effort and Hollywood celebs are pissbabies who don’t wanna train or risk hurting themselves

1. Huge budget block busters took over. Why invest $10 million in some action flick that might make the money back when you can gamble with $300 million for a chance at a $1 billion?
2. Easier and cheaper to CGI everything and not risk hurting talent
3. Nobody actually respects martial arts movies any more. You want good clips, go on instagram and look up kung fu, people just do it for free

Just how many cuts are in that scene? It's easier to appreciate choreography when you aren't constantly cockblocked with rapid cuts and CGI effects dancing across the screen.

The camera isn't being operated by Micheal fox

>Just how many cuts are in that scene?
Three jumpcuts in 21 seconds.

Well, you have approach a)
Just tell the actors to swing some sticks and point fists at each other and hack it together with like 3 cuts per second minimum, basic bitches still think it's the greatest fight $superhero has ever done and there's nothing that could stop him now
Or you go with approach b)
Where you spent way too much time and money on professional choreographers and people who are actually proficient in what you want to show, the spent like 3 weeks filming the scenes and try to cut them together as flawlessly as possible only to have people complaint about how that's not as impressive as whatever the cutfags put on the menu. If it turns out to be in fact very impressive, it's usually too brutal and people will be alienated regardless.
It seems like only asians still have enough people who care about martial arts that it's financially viable to not produce utter trash

I would literally NEVER get touched by some wispy chink. I would have turned his face into a fucking rotten pumpkin on the floor - easily, I might add. I'm 6'3, build like a brick shithouse and could smash his fucking head to pieces on accident.

Jackie wasn't a pussy and knew how to take a hit. He also constantly drilled with his stunt team and did take after take after take, hundreds of times even, until he was satisfied.

Old karate films where one of the guys wears professional attire is so kino. Reminds me an SNK fighter.

I doubt it.

He actually knows how to fight.

Based and trash alley pilled

jackie chan flicks were primarily made by golden harvest, and nearly ever single person who acted in those films did their own stunts. they were all stunt men first, actors second. that's why.

jackie chan film action sequences are all heart and soul. that's why.

Benny the Jet and Jackie Chan are talented fighters and the director is also talented (sammo?)
and they would take their time to shoot a scene.
Chan mentions that they would take DAYS to film a 5 minute action sequence to get it JUST right.
In America they'd do a few takes and move (basically just edit the best bits to make scene "work")
Even if you had talented actors (who can film fight) you still wouldn't get a Peak Golden Harvest Action Kino because they wouldn't put the time into filming a sequence (even if the budget is 100x what hong kong spends)

Jackie chan is the man

Incredibly technical and based

As others have said, old school Jackie Chan they don't cut away from the fights. They leave the camera on the whole time so you can actually see the fight, not just have the camera cuts put together in your mind.

the second of the Lucky Stars trilogy (my lucky stars??)
all of them are good but not a lot of Jackie action. (he's just a guest star). Its most about a bunch idiots ex-cons getting caught up in some crime and sexually harassing some lady. They are largely comedies instead of action flicks

It's baffling because you have movies like The Last Jedi and Birds of Prey make obvious mistakes with the choreo that the directors must have noticed, but it's in the final product anyway. Like they just didn't care. Why spend all that money creating and shooting an action scene only to quit before you get a good take?

Isn’t that Scott adkin mma guy making modern action stunt films?

I guess in TLJ weapons were cgi so they didnt really know or didnt care enough to guess where the cgi blade was clipping through

Most actors are not going to put in the time to do stunts as well as getting hurt to do said stunts and choreography .

Yeah but he doesn't do death defying stunts
Probably no way to really do stuff like that now (for insurance purposes)
Plus even his movies don't put the time to constantly reshoot an action sequence (though he probably could do it).
Newer action films use that low angle sweeping camera movement during a fight which is annoying. Like they just CAN'T leave the camera in one spot even when they don't need to do endless cuts.

that's fucking nuts that chink stunt man had to throw himself out of that window and land on his head

they actually just did it backwards and reversed the film

They were supposed to land on the car but the air brakes fucked the timing.

ooooh okay that makes way more sense because I've seen them do a move like to get up when they're knocked down.

Son, you big slow flabby fucks shoulda went into the telegraph business when it was still around. Now yer outta work and cant put it in.
