Yeah, its kind of necessary to do so. BCS is great but you get a lot more out of it having seen Breaking Bad. The show-runners have elevated certain characters because of its relation to that show. The opening black and white scenes indicate to you off the bat that the events that occur in Breaking Bad are relevant to the story being told.

I hope they don't kill her that'd be an easy way out and I really want to see some juicy heart wrenching suffering for Jimmy , and also I can't picture a future where she dies because of him and then he goes on to be the #1 defendant of the most vile criminals and drug dealers, to me it wouldn't make sense for his character progression. Maybe the reason he went on to be Saul was to get a ridiculous amount of money so he can get Kim out of Jail and live together in a big mansion or something, that'd be really sweet and cute but ehhh I'd rather be surprised, death is expected.
