For the cost of adapting that nerd bullshit, we could have adapted some actual good literature, like The Human Comedy
>nog
>spic
>le 56% face
>nigdeya
pretty good cast aside from that fucking mutt girl, shes a shit actress why is she so popular
The divine comedy you mean? Thats literally the big bang theory of its time, full of pop culture references.
She must be fucking loads of people to get this many roles, there is no other explanation.
I'm thinking
Soul v Souless
Not massive on Zendaya albeit the books never state Chani is beautiful (and when a character is beautiful, it is mentioned like with Jessica) and Paul going for some bland brown girl over beautiful Irulan may be the point. I'll reserve having a full on sperg out until I see the trailer, but I most definitely do not like how they've changed Liet. Totally fucked up that character from an adaption standpoint.
Paul looks like a jabroni hipster.
True. With Chalamet it makes immediate sense, i.e. he's came from a well connected background and is Jewish (inb4 'Yas Forums!' - I don't hate a Jewish person on account of their background at all, but ethnic cronyism is a fact of life). I don't understand why she's been propelled into such stardom.
The sex or ethnicity of Liet does not matter in the slightest to the character. There is nothing to the character where those aspects would have any bearing.
soul vs soulless
yea im thing Dune niggers are btfo. Not sure why they even trust dishonest filmmakers in the fist place
>Thoughts?
soul/soulless
shut the fuck up nigger faggot
Why is the film compared to the Lynch film when Lynch couldn't give two shits about the source material?
Most kino adaptation coming through
this is going to be another kingdom of heaven, with most of the cast being good, and the lead being a wtf choice
Blah blah blah. If it doesn't bother you then fine but I'm allowed to dislike the change becasuse I got to know Liet as a male, not a woman. I see this new thing as a new entity rather than Kynes. And changing Liet to a woman has implications for what it says about the Fremen culture and the character, and it does matter in the sense of what Frank envisioned as Liet represents the western man.
NO, YOU FUCKING RETARD PIECE OF SHIT, I DON'T FUCKING MEAN THE DIVINE FUCKING COMEDY!
THINK BEFORE YOU POST, DUMBASS.
Prove me wrong or seethe in silence
This is objectively a way more book accurate cast than the Lynch cast.
Read the book
>There's only one nigger that I like and this ain't it
Sorry but you can't compare with Picard and Cooper
I'm very skeptical of this movie but you aren't wrong, i.e. all this bitching over Chalamet playing Paul cause he's a skinny twink even though thin is what Paul both when 15 and 18 post time skip.
who was channi was she some goblina priestes form the planet ?
Kyle wasn't that good of a Paul. But the 84 film in general botched Paul given how they removed the whole jihad aspect.
>Behind-The-Dune v2
Thanks m8. I really hope they fixed the bugs and added more girls
If he turns down a sexy blonde woman for a nigress hell just look retarded
Paul's main love interest. Her book descriptions are scant (elfine faced, red hair) but they never stress her beauty, so casting someone that isn't beautiful like Zendaya isn't accurate per se.
Speaking of that, what's with the 'Ooooh she looks beautiful!' reaction shit I've seen to Zendaya as Chani? I feel like it's an Emperor's new clothes thing to point out she doesn't look beautiful in those images. She looks frumpy.
Her popularity on social media is good marketing
Meh, I don't know why are people so upset about this casting. Sure, it's not the same as the old one but it would never be the same as the old one.
Also, considering that Dune is happening in the far future, everyone being a bit of mystery meat is fairly appropriate.
I wonder what abomination they will cast as Irulan
Him choosing frumpy desert rat over regal blonde goddess is suppose to speak for the strength of the love he feels for Chani though
Chani is an extremely skinny dry desert sandnig. Her kind lived on that extremely dry desert for thousands of years.
You forgot one, OP
It does matter that shes a woman because the fremen arent exactly feminists
>men have multiple wives
>jamus’s widow gets upset when paul wont marry her
>they were sacrificing virgins before liet stopped them
Its not believeable that some YAAAS QUEEN would be the leader of all the tribes. Nope. No way. And of course nobody wants to follow a nigger thats self explanatory
Is she basically some extremely rich LA art hoe?
She's in the second part.
Kek at all the redditfags I've seen go 'She looks so badass and fierce!' Good for them if they aren't annoyed at the change I suppose but I don't know what the hell they're seeing. I'm on a totally different wavelength to these people.
This
Dr. Yueh in 1984 Dune is just straight up retarded
timmy is so cute
I'm iffy on Zendaya but Chani was never described as a great beauty, so it's not like they've went against anything by casting her. As I stated elsewhere, the only possible silver lining I could see to them casting someone frumpy as Chani is to contrast with a beautiful Irulan actress and it speaking of Paul's love for the sandnig when he chooses her over the blonde goddess.
Reading that Variety article totally killed any anticipation I had for this movie. Genderswapping characters for no other reason than "there aren't enough females in the cast" is so fucking stupid.
>I'm on a totally different wavelength to these people.
I feel the same way. Its like I exist on a whole other plane of reality. Not that I have a high IQ but the average person is literally retarded
It's comfy Batista has had such a great film career already. One of the few wrestlers who really made it. And he's better actor than John Cena or Dwayne Johnson
I bet the studio used his failure of making 2049 a box office success as leverage to make him poz the film. But if thats the case he should have let the film die
Lynch's Dune sucked
because she cute
you suck
I never read Dune so I can't judge based off of authenticity to the books, but the cast on the left looks a bit more personalized. The cast on the right comes off looking very generic to me. Their faces look less emotive on the right and the backgrounds all look washed out and have no stark qualities.
I now have a lot of reservations but I can conceive it may turn out like the LotR films, i.e. a lot of annoying changes but a lot done right and something where you have to take a step sometimes to fully appreciate. Also, Denis has a decent track record with his female characters. The Sicario and Arrival protagonists were not 'Yaaas! Strong independant wymin!' types. They were people with their own vulnerabilities and such. I'm skeptical but I am at least waiting until I see the damn thing before I either declare it a trainwreck or a triumph.
I really only ever can imagine raging soifaggot stereotypes when I read those kind of posts.
NGL i read that book after the behind the dune
Is Lynch retarded? Why the fuck would the Fremen ever be white??
>Since I was 12 years old there was a book I read, which is ‘Dune,’ which is my favorite book, with ‘1984.’ After ‘Prisoners,’ the producer of Alcon asked me what I would like to do next. I said, ‘Dune,’ spontaneously, that if anyone could get me the rights for ‘Dune’ — and I knew it was very difficult to get those rights. For me it was just a dream, and I guess I’m lucky that Mary Parent from Legendary got the rights and offered it to me. I can’t say no to that. I have images that I am haunted by for 35 years. I will not say no to that. That’s going to be the project of my life.
OK Denis, show me your turboautism. I am ready.
I mean, I'm still gonna see it. But changes like this, and making Jessica more "badass" (a "warrior priestess", in their own words)...I just hate the blatant pandering.
why wouldn't they be?
Because it unironically was a different time.
That and the Fremen ethnicity genuinely did lean closer to white than brown, i.e. Chani has red hair, Harah is pale olive, and the guy Hawat talks to before being captured had light sandy hair.
that was just how hollywood work at that time, it's why SJWs are trying to swing so hard back
why you think alec guinness and anthony quinn played arabs in lawrence
Show me any lifelong dry desert tribe that's white.
Why not? The Mongols had a female Great Khatun.
hair color matters little in scifi, you also forget to mention the most important feature was that they were based off of bedouins and had dark skin
The Aiel from the Wheel of Time. They're gingers as a desert tribe!
They all have a "leathery tanned skin" by the book.
So they should hire camel fucking bedouins instead of professional actors?
That Variety article was weird. Like Jessica already was a warrior in the book. Her manhandling Stilgar is what assured her own survival (I also like how that happened without it ruining Stilgar's dignity, i.e. he's so flippant with her and calling her "woman" even when he's in her power). He also said some shit like how his Baron will be calculating and predatory rather than a madman... the Baron was calculating and predatory. The only Baron that was a madman was the Lynch version. It sounded as if he was clarifying how he was going to be different from Lynch rather than how he was going to adapt the book.
Nah youd like me irl
