Was he written better than other characters or just played by a better actor?

was he written better than other characters or just played by a better actor?

what happened to the black dudes arc. wasn't he supposed to become a full blown jedi

He didn't say that much in the last movie.
Less idiotic text to say =/= better acting.

He's the only character that had any depth whatsoever. Every other main character was incredibly shallow and 1-dimensional.

Rian Johnson happened

>tfw no storm trooper rebellion

If you think he was well written you are unironically the incel king.
the character had 0 depth and was reduced to a laughable screaming manchild, completely incapable of being the main villain.

o gee who do i believe

Why couldn't there at least have been one good space battle this trilogy? Rogue One had a cool one, maybe up there with the Endor battle. But fucking space horses and a bazillion ships just sitting around was so fucking boring.

No and no

funnily enough, i thought that one was the best of all 3. but a shame, i like that black dude, first saw him in attack of the block, proud of that bloke.

his character arc

>kill people
>almost get killed by woman
> break helmet
>almost get killed by woman
>remake helmet
>almost get killed by woman
>get killed by woman

You ignore the troll. I don't think he's anything special but he still stands out because he's not a token diversity character. In current year you can take risks with white male characters that would upset the woke crowd who see every female and non-white as a representative of their group.

nice woman hips lmao

He was written bad but is a good actor.

>taking risks
>character is an angsty hypervirgin incel placeholder
hahahahahahaha

Bit of both. His character has more purpose and more emotional resonance, and that mostly comes down to writing. I think Driver was a good casting choice and is a fine actor but it's not a role that I think is defined by the actor to the same extent that Han Solo was by Harrison Ford. He still made a big impact and delivered emotional notes that could've easily been elided, though. I wouldn't call Kylo Ren a "great" character at all, but he's better than the rest by a mile.

The new Dune adaptation is looking good

Everyone, never forget the time everyone despised these films. Because there will come a time where people will meme the fucking shit out of this abomination back into relevancy. And most of them will be disney shills.

He completed his arc of comic relief to kinda serious

No he wasn't. He was put in a come at the end of TFA

He was never supposed to be the main villain but a chad bad boy love interest for Rey.

The other characters aren't really characters.

He isn't a good character, but he is at least a character with a personality of some interest, which makes him better by default

Don't (You) a bunch of people, newfag.

He's Kojima-tier in how illogical he is.

>i wanna be evil, but feel the lure of light
>HELP ME VADER'S HELMET HELP ME
>my uncle tried to kill me
>BETTER KILL ALL MY SCHOOLMATES AND BURN DOWN THE SCHOOL
>this old Swede that knows pertinent info about my uncle's whereabouts is being sassy to me
>BETTER CUT HIM DOWN CAUSE I SUCK AT BANTER
>a girl you say
>BETTER SMASH THIS CONTROL PANEL

He's propped up by the virtue of other characters having no character to speak of. Finn just trails Rey like a lost puppy, Rey is just a goody-two-shoes cause what's with all the questions she just is, you pig. Poe is great at flying and terrible at landing a joke. Of course Darth Columbine sticks out.

He's so badly thought out that the only way they gave him a redemption arc was him having an imaginary conversation with the father he killed to prove how committed to being evil he is where the figment of his imagination "forgives" him. He's been doing nothing but foaming at the mouth and trying to kill everyone for 2 and a half movies, but his mother dying is enough to forget about all that. I'm sure Abrams and Kasdan congratulated and patted themselves on the back for coming up with such a "cool" reversal of the usual Jedi temptation arc, by having a character be lured to do good like help old ladies across the street when all he really wants is to napalm villages.

He got good writing in TLJ, the dialogue and writing was top notch overall.

TROS dialogue and writing was so bad not even Driver could make it work.

They retconned the School burning, it was Palpatine that brought a storm and shot lightning to make the fire. No joke.

>imagination
J. J. said that it was not Kylo's imagination, Han was actually there.

They'll spend years giving explanations for their shitty plot-points/holes in interviews and visual dictionaries, aren't they?

And then it will be retconed again in the next book or comic.

Well, J. J. Said in interviews:
>Kylo actually spoke to Han and not his mind
>House Skywalker and House Palpatine are a thing and the saga is about their fight
>Finn wanted to tell Rey that he is force sensitive
