I finished reading the novel today so I decided to watch Lynch's version.

this movie is the most embarrassing fucking thing I've ever seen. is lynch just incompetent, or did he purposefully not give a fuck when making this?

i mean look at this shit

LYNCHED and FILTERED

come back when you've grown a brain, moran

>video is not available

Dunefags (Star Wars with sand and worms, literally capespaceshit for toddlers and mongoloids) = Lynched lol

the video you posted looks great aside from some obviously dated cgi

Filtered.

Studio interference fucked the movie

>purposefully not give a fuck when making this
correct. this was his way of flipping the bird to the people in charge who refused to give him creative freedom

Studio took the movie from him at the end and did their own thing.

Watch the Spicediver fanedit of this movie. Its much better, actually good

yeah it was a studio project that was dumped into his lap

Lynch himself hates the film, calls it both a nightmare and a failure.
I guess he filtered himself then am i rite

Wrong.
He had total freedom up until the final edit.
Everything that was written and filmed was done the way he wanted to.
It's only the final edit that makes him seethe.
But then again he still allowed his name to be put on the theatrical release, there was the other version I think was for television that he had his name completely taken off.
If he had that power and he truly didn't like Dune he could have done it for the theatrical release as well

there was significant executive meddling, studio wanted their own star wars franchise

I do not say this lightly but Dune (1984) is unprecedented kino

After reading the books (in Germany separated in 6 parts) I thought in the same way about as you. Aspecially the fact that you need the whole book to figure out the plan of all actors. This was declared in 1 minue in the beginning of that movie.
BUT...
Watch the new versions of that movie (or better_ don#t do it to keep your brain clean). All newer versions are devastating shit against Lynch's one.

I realise that this is a bait thread, and you almost certainly work for a marketing company responsible for drumming up interest in Dune to keep the momentum going for the upcoming remake. But I'm going to bite anyway.

Yes, the film has flaws, but it is totally unique and original. It breathes life into the novel. Very few directors could have brought this story to the screen as effectively. The creative vision and production values are generally first-rate and incomparable.

People who hate this film are ignorant morons.

You got filtered. HARD.

Kill yourself.

>this was his way of flipping the bird to the people in charge who refused to give him creative freedom
desu this is a problem he has throughout his entire career. he should have stuck to independent film. less budget but way more freedom there and considering the conditions eraserhead was made in, i don't think lynch is the type of director that needs millions in budget.

Except you didn't and it's not.

Seethe

Yas Forums fallen so down the mental gymnastics rabbit hole they now supposedly love a studio made flick that just pisses all over the book in every way possible lmao

The effects and costumes werent bad but lynch has this cringy style that didn't mesh well with the story at all. Lynch is good at his own weird shit but he can't handle something like Dune. All the eccentricities he added were pointless and served no purpose other than being "dude so weird lmao"

You're legit brainlet

Yeah bro it was all totally pointless, me personally i can't wait for Villeneuve's bland studio capeshit interpretation that will be forgotten in 6 months after release

Everything with Paul was great. The weirding way, Baron, stillsuits, Sting, Saudakar, Duncan, everything to do with the Harkonnen, Bene Gesserit, was shit.

So the soul of the book was saved, but the heart wasn't there. Good movie, but it wasn't Dune.

Villeneuve adapted enemy which was a novel and it's a great movie. He doesn't do capeshit and is 10x better than anything lynch has ever done

What is this shit and who is the girl.

>is lynch just incompetent, or did he purposefully not give a fuck when making this?
I forget the story but Lynch is not proud of this film at all. Don't judge Lycnh's work of Dune alone

Okay? This isn't exactly a new opinion. Nobody on this board actually unironically thinks this is a good film on any objective measure, it's a terrible film with wooden acting and terrible effects which horribly adapts the material it's sourced from. Nobody will argue that, not even Lynch defends that piece of shit movie, your point? A few retards like it in a sort of cult classic sense I guess.

Quintessential Reddit take

Not an argument

Dune has great production design, cast, and music, but it's a mess storytelling wise.

ok Reddit keep rehashing those borrowed midwit opinions

I wish he directed Return of the Jedi

Still no argument there.

lynched and filtered

Weirding modules were a terrible idea.

fuck off George
