It was a right place in the right time situation. The new id guys like Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin are just as personable but the state of the industry doesn't allow for these fantastical work environments where Romero could walk out into the common room and pitch his idea about being able to piss on dead nazis in Wolfenstein while they had led zeppelin jamming on the radio in their office.
