My grand-grandmom told me that she literally had a poster of Zhukov in her bedroom, the guy was literally a superstar in the URSS and practically everybody adored him. From I understand Stalin hated him but never dared to take any actions because he was aware that would be his end, the army would have simply revolted.
The Death of Stalin
>Never laughed a black comedy
In Bruges has some cool cinematography, but I'd hesitate to call it good and stop well short of even considering it a comedy. Try Jam.
Stalin forced him into semi-exile. It was a comfy exile, though.
Yup, but stalin also remembered the shit show that was WW2 after he gutted the officer corps and like the other user said he was the countries greatest hero, and stalin couldn't just have him killed.
Only commie I’ll ever call Based
>I fucked Germany, I think I can take on a Flesh Lump in a fucking waistcoat.
My favourite Zhukov-related anecdote
Jason Isaacs absolutely crushes his role. Just an all-around hilarious film that didn't try to make any larger points. Its sense of humour is so Russian too, the blitheness in the face of atrocity, but its also really accessible for a certain segment of the western audience that "gets it".
I really want a sequel showing Steve Buscemi’s fall from power or detailing when 3 Soviet leaders died in the 1980’s, this is the kind of political related comedy we should be getting.
