I know movie knives are the sharpest thing in the universe but they still look super fucking silly if they're gonna fight people covered in tank armor. Are they getting rid of shields?

am I the only one here who's actually read the books and think the movie will be good? i swear none of these shots made me change my mind. I still like the cast and just hope they don't make the inner monologues come across as cringey like they did in 1984

I expect quite a lot of deviation from the books, that's not always a bad thing, book adaptions aren't easy to make flow.
I'm cautiously optimistic but I'm a bit disappointed in the minimalistic approach I've seen in these pics. Maybe it's on purpose to contrast with the Harkonnen outfits.

Other than the armor, the shots don't bother me too much. It's when the articles say that Jessica will have a greater role than her already huge fucking role in the books and that they're making changes to Kynes' character is when I get worried. They couldn't just change Kynes to a woman and keep the same script, Kynes has to be a strong independent woman who's more of a hero now.

Leto was supposed to be a little brown in the book, Med brown basically. Isaac is hispanic but his look fits.

Are the knives in dune somehow enhanced by some sci-fi shenanigans or are they literally just fucking knives? Cause I always imagined them to be some kind of super plasma knife or something.

I like Villanueava but Lynch definitely had a better aesthetic. They're aristocrats but in the new one they're so plain looking they look like Soviet infantry.
