this movie reseted everyone's back to the initial character, it kill their archs, it's just an oficial fanfiction

In the history of film this will actually have a place as a sort of proto-Avatar, it's honestly overlooked.

>proton avatar
How?

Better than that shitty dragon quest movie

It’s awful

Reminder that this is a required watch if you plan to play the "remake"

Those soul-snatcher monsters gave me nightmares as a kid.

Oh yeah, this exists.

Say what you want but at least that scene with the team fighting together was kino:

youtu.be/pHAhx4H5RLM

If only the whole movie was like that.

I still really enjoy the Kadaj fight and the last bit of the Sephiroth fight when he actually fucks Cloud up

Playing the ff7 remake made me think of this. After wall market you are stuck in a hours long tunnel of events that is mostly cgi cut scenes. Watch 5 min scene, actually move your character 10 steps, get another 5 min scene.

The gameplay is good but the back half of the game feels like mostly cut scenes. Im starting to hate it.

reminder that in the ff7 universe humanity dies 500 years after sephiroth is defeated, that's why in the remake they introduced destiny ghosts so they could retcon the continuity

AC is kino.

I've never seen this, I just know it was universally panned. Is it redeemable at all today?

This shit was fucking cool.

Anyone remember this shit?

I legit didn't realize this already came out until a month or two ago.

So why were they using bullets to shoot ghosts?

>I've never seen this, I just know it was universally panned. Is it redeemable at all today?
nta; I watched it in the theater in 2001 and thought it was lame then. I rewatched it last month and it's not very entertaining. Essentially, it's just like watching a bunch of cutscenes from a PS-era FF game.

Alec Baldwin as the VA of Aki's boyfriend is the only really interesting part of the movie. However, the story behind Aki Ross and how Square had high hopes to pivot her into being the world's first CGI actress is very interesting.

The plot is pretty horrendous, but a lot of the fight scenes are still top notch.

I'm amazed this hit theaters instead of being direct to video

>the gameplay is good
Do you play casic or normal because normal seems like cancer to play to me.

Never beat the original game, but I really liked this

Many of us got tricked hard.

Normal. Its pretty easy. The annoying things are interupts/long cc and flying enemies being out of range. Only thing I can recommend is switch characters often using them for their strengths. Tifa builds stagger well and if you ise her strength build up ability you get omnifist or whatever on triangle for the next attack. Barret is range Cloud just all around melee and aerith is magic. Switching often lets you use them each for their niche but also stops the enemy from targeting you when you trying to do shit. They tend to focus whoever you control. Only exception is stuff like the rude fight where he sleeps aerith from range if you try to use her. Clouds block is good for Turk fights but for everything else I mostly just dodge.

Arc. Character arc, you fucking baboon. Arch is a curved symmetrical structure.

True that.

>Tomb Raider
>no tits
I'm glad it bombed

am i the only one who hated the anime direction they took advent children and thus the remake? i know its gonna have some anime aspects but i cannot stand the triple backflip mid air nonsense or scenes that were initially cool turned into twin snakes cheese. I sometimes think im the only one.

>Never beat the original game
same here..

I've been thinking of giving FF7 (PC edition) another go. I remember getting up to the point where I was supposed to fight a big green robot that kept kicking my ass until I got bored with the game.

I think the main reason I didn't care for it was because FF6's esper system was about as complex of a mechanic as I wanted, and having to worry about all the materia in FF7 was just an additional hassle for me.

This is an interesting video about that first FF movie (made by ex SBFP Matt):

youtu.be/JzJ8MWDg350

The very first trailer implied it wouldn't be a direct 1:1 remake. People crying that it's something new are absolutely the dumbest motherfuckers.

I love FFVII as much as the next guy (IX is better btw). I am not a fan of the remake because I hate the combat AND the story so I just shrug and continue replaying the original instead of having a massive weeks long temper tantrum

Wut do u meen about kiling the karaktur arks?

Never played any version of FF7 but this movie was really shit and also worth it just for the retarded DBZ sword fights. And even those weren't even that good. This movie is proof that S-E is full of hacks.

It's unavoidable

Originally it's implied that the use of Holy (destroys all that is harmful to Earth) to stop Meteor also wiped out humanity. That was 500 years of overgrowth on Midgar

The key is to beating any jRPG is basically just never run away from a random encounter. Keeps you appropriately leveled. It's tedious but its better to grind on your way to a boss than having to grind -for- a boss.

You could give the new FF7Remake a try too if you just want to play for the story.

>but i cannot stand the triple backflip mid air nonsense
I too user disliked it, it took me out of the movie, maybe I was biased because I hadn't played the game and was curious about seeing it, however it just felt overtly stupid and needless.

it could have been toned down a lot though. making most things grounded makes it more impactful when something crazy happens, like a summon or special move. Even Cloud getting off the train went from him jumping off to him doing a dramatic backflip off of it. Its just pointless. My favorite FF is XII if that says anything about my priorities

It’s not too late for a cumback, where are the Aki Ross SFMs?

>You could give the new FF7Remake a try too if you just want to play for the story.
Every time I think about giving FF7 another shot, I inevitably just start a new game of FF6 instead.

I saw this in theaters with a big group of friends. I remember it because I asked out my crush while walking through the mall after having dinner at Chik-fil-A and she said no. I then ended up sitting behind two people who made out for 3/4 the movie.

In the end I won because the chick went full nuts in college and is now a shaved head antifa commie

You also lost because you watched that piece of shit movie.

I fucking hate this guy's sense of humor but he is so informative. Though I will admit his "crunch time" jokes always make me laugh

>ff6 music starts playing in the background
Damn, I get a massive nostalgia stab whenever I hear the World of Balance overworld theme.

I just beat FFVII for the first time on Friday. Honestly it was a very good game. I will admit that I used the 3x speed/no encounters function a bit because old age seems to have made it into an impatient boomer.

My only real complaints were
>I apparently missed import plot elements because I didn't go back to a certain place after a specific event
>Even with skipping a bunch of random encounters all the story bosses were easy with the exception of a random difficulty spike half way and the final boss. I never party wiped from a boss.
>Because party members get forced into your party/removed at places I spent so much time redoing Materias for people just for it to end up being 10-15 minutes of cutscenes and a few random encounters before the status quo returns (Looking at you post reunion/Midreel)

Why? Finish it faggot

And also... Why the fuck Kefka doesn't destroy the Falcon with the light of judgement?

i loved FFVII. probably my favorite game. played it all summer practically the year it came out. I was excited to see this movie and it ended up being hot garbage

you're not the only one, I always wonder would the original final fantasies have been like this were it not for the tech limitations at the time

I've never given a fuck about FF but wanting people to complain less about trash product in the current year is retarded, especially in the pit of blood-sucking parasites that is the video game industry.
