I like Lynch Dune a lot. It's great. The sets and costumes are incredible, it has cool visuals, the story is mythic, good epic soundtrack. It's unique and unforgettable. No pozzed casting. The only downsides is the way over the top, campy Harkonnans and the personal shield effects.

Lynch Dune = Soul
Nu Dune = You guessed it, Soulless

My only issue is Sting.

I love everything else about the movie, the pacing can be off at times, but every character is almost exactly as I imagine them.

Except Sting.
Feyd is suppose to be beautiful, almost girly looking.
I wasn't buying it.

what happened with the new one, update me user.

He has one thing the new one will never have: Frank Herbert's approval.

I love you lynch, but the only good thing about your dune was that it does look good (mostly), everything else falls flat

>Except Sting.
>Feyd is suppose to be beautiful, almost girly looking.
>I wasn't buying it.

I like that he does present the look of a dangerous man so it's more thrilling when he fights Paul at the end.

>girly looking
Care to elaborate on that?

he means like griffith i guess

I'm sorry your Dune was so awful.

Lynch > Jodorowsky

lynch’s dune is the best sci fi film ever made.

Feyd like Paul is the product of untold generations of genetic programming.
Which generally means he is superior from average humans in a number of ways.
One of his traits was that he was insanely pretty. With feminine full lips.
He isn't outright womanly, he is muscular and lean. However his facial features are described in more than one occasion in a way that you you'd describe a woman's face.

It's not a big problem, just a problem.
I just didn't like him that much and it might not even be his fault. They cut so much of his content out of the movie he was pretty much just a side character.

Muh nigga

I liked sting, DUNE is one of my favourite novels and i’ve read it too many times, but i’m not looking for faithful adaptations when translated to film, I just want a good entertaining movie, which Lynch of course provides

sting is the best part
>September, 1983: "I met David and I loved him. He's a madman in sheep's clothing, and I just felt I had to do the movie because I know he's going to do something extraordinary."
>July 1985: "I didn't even like the film, I don't have a clue what it was about, it was very confusing."
>November 1987: "I refuse to take responsibility for any film I'm in. It's the directors movie."
>May, 1998: "There's no actor who's been in nothing but great movies, nothing but successes. You can make a few lousy movies in relative obscurity."
>April, 1998: "I was flicking through the channels in a hotel room in the Midwest. Suddenly there they were, the flying underpants. They were great but very tricky to get on under your flares. I still don't actually know what Dune was about and I don't know if anyone did."

David Bowie also didn't like how he came across in FWWM, but he still stole the show.

It's literally missing my favorite Feyd scene, probably the most important Feyd scene. Where he tries to assassinate his uncle and fails.

The Baron isn't even mad, he tells him like he is a small child that if you're going to try and kill someone, make sure they are dead.
So he makes Feyd kill all of his concubines as punishment and tells him that he will be Emperor, but only if he stops these foolish attempts on The Barons life.

It's incredibly important in showing character development.

Because Sting literally had no character development.
He barely fucking spoke.

Like I get that they didn't have a lot of time or budget for every little detail in the books.

However The Baron and Feyd are the actual antagonist of the book.
They are the ones pulling the strings and Feyd deserved more development.

No. Your Dune sucked, it was too Lynchian for my tastes.

it’s an audio visual experience user, leave stories for books

It was the least lynch lynch film

Based

Yeah it's still does. One piece of shit doesn't become any more appealing because someone shits out a new one.

there is undoubtedly no wrong in lynch's Dune even frank herbert praised it, he was not involved with the ending since the producers wanted to rush it.

Anyone else getting deja vu way more often than usual during this quarantine?

No the least Lynchian film is The Straight Story.
I watched Dune again yesterday and its far more Lynchian than I remember.

To ever lynch for a lynch film
