Zendaya is so fucking hot I don't care, but the Kynes switch was really uncalled-for. It's almost as if Villeneuve's producers really believed Dune is regressive or something, which it's not. The worst criticism you could make about the novel, ironically, is that the main character is a multi-talented male prince who takes dominion over the brown-skinned Arrakkeen but have they changed that particular fact? Not one iota.

Ngl the black Bond idea isn't total horse shit, 007 being anyone capable enough has been a persistent trope in the series and I don't feel it violates anything. Nor, really, does Kynes as a black female but it feels apropo to nothing in this particular case and that's why it feels so political and market-tested.

It's because now in the West, you have to have at least one black as a central character or else your film is racist. Doesn't matter if most of the cast is non-white if there's zero black folk you're racist.

Chani's nu-Dune case is more accurate to the source material.

Chani is supposed to be a dark skinned woman with tawny red hair.

The fact that they cast Chani as white with nearly black hair, only goes to show that they didn't care much about accuracy in that case.

Dune is the ultimate nerdy white guy book. Every magic the gathering, comic book store guy talks about. Even if this was a faithful remake of it it would still bomb. Filling it up with blacks will just seal the deal.

It's always black. Even on tv shows and tv commercials, you rarely see a white-white relationship. It's always a white-black couple. Whites are not allowed to be portrayed as breeding with other whites. But tv shows and commercials are just fine with showing black-black relationships.

I decided to watch Ozark. I begin at the beginning, with Season 1, Episode 1. Literally the second scene, a mere two minutes into the first episode of the first season, the very first couple we see is a black woman and white man. Keep in mind that black women ages 15 to 55 are just 4% of the entire US population and less than one-tenth of the entire EU population, and yet nu-hoolywood wants you to believe that blacks are 50% of the population and 50% of all relationships. What nu-hoolywood is doing so blatantly racist.
