I recently watched this after reading dune. I have to say its looks more faithful then the new pozzed dune we're getting.
Don't try to defend dinny with this studio meddling bs there was plenty of studio constraints david lynch had to put up with.

Sure. Wish there was more of her. In fact, the single biggest criticism of Dune is that there was not enough of it, too much was cut.

I always did.

Yes

Good movie, but very flawed. The new dune will be way better

>its looks more faithful
>sonic weapons
>ending is IT'S RAINING MEN HALLELUJAH

Lynch was a genius to start the movie out with this goddess and then have her appear in the background of like one scene in the entire movie.

i love the novel and I love this film, it has some absolutely fantastic sets and characters.
“faithful adaptations” can get fucked, I want kino

Yes you fucking mouthbreather, and the point is that with that and more it's /still/ more faithful

I would have been happy if Lynch had made a movie about the daily life of Princess Irulan with Virginia Madsen.

I forgot that we've already seen Dune 2020
>my name is a literal fucking killing word because sound go BOOM

Don't judge this early be real, also Lynch's version will always have its own place.

oh boy do i ever love dune

>Good movie, but very flawed.
True
>The new dune will be way better
Bait

You did not read dune.

>“faithful adaptations” can get fucked, I want kino
Seconded. If talented directors insisted on faithful adaptations, we would never have gotten The Shining.

How are you this dumb?
The point, once again, is that just what we've seen is ALREADY more inauthentic than anything in the entire run time of Lynch's Dune

We did not watch the new one you dishonest retard

>inauthentic
I was waiting for the buzzwords to appear

Totally non biased take man.
Kek how do you even function

Are you the same retard of "dishonest"?

man, as soon as i see this i can hear the music. and the monologue comes straight back to me
>A beginning is a very delicate time. Know then that in the year 2291, in an attempt to control violence among deep space miners, the New Earth Government legalized no-holds-bared fighting. Liandri Mining Corporation, working with the NEG, established a series of leagues and bloody public exhibitions. The fights' popularity grew with their brutality. Soon, Liandri discovered that the public matches were their most profitable enterprise.

from what I've seen so far the costumes were more similar to what I was picturing in Lynch's dune
wasn't a big fan of the ships though

What?

what do you mean
>What?

>Father!
>The sleeper has awoken!
>Iconic soundtrack chords swell

I cri evry tim ;_;

I love the dreamlike aspect of this movie. It's like a trip - it doesn't have to make sense to make sense.

Also:

>For he is the Kwisatz Haderach!

is there a more hilarious line in a movie? Only "Excalibur" comes close for ridiculous but awesome

What monologue are you talking about Satan? This has nothing to do with Dune.

Based i loved all the alia scenes

and how can this BEEEEEE?
for he ISSSSS the queef farts hard iraq!

>"Excalibur"
Excalibur I thought had more depth than Dune when it comes to forcing choice and command upon Arthur (vs. Paul). Arthur was basically told he was king, that he may find people who will aid him, but ultimately all decision making is up to him. Paul always seemed like there was something guiding him, there were fewer doubts about what to do.

Lynch style was the correct choice for the source material.

He loves that dreamy, moody, clunky and mechanical atmosphere with people daydreaming amidst imposing industrial machinery. It's really a tremendous fit
The cast is on point, the costume design in on point, the set design is on point, the sountrack is magnificent. There's this eerie atmosphere throughout.

The problem though is that the producers wanted this to be the next Star Wars so they cut the movie up and made it more of a "spectacle" with the sonic weapons basically allowing some pew pew scenes.

made

>Lynch style was the correct choice for the source material.
you haven't read the book. It is not a horror novel, nor is it daydreamy.

this was so unsettling. Almost seemed like some pedowood shit

Have they announced who's playing Irulan in the new movie?

This you can see the points where it was pure studio trying to cashin on star wars popularity.

oh now i get why its being remade lol

Excalibur also traced the journey from young hopeful king to old, weary king. I think it explicitly mirrored the seasons, of youthful spring, to ripened summer, to decaying autumn, to dead, dessicated winter.

Paul's journey ended at his moment of trumph - obviously the books go beyond but in the movie we don't get to see everything gradually go to shit.

It's an interesting comparison between two films that have stunning visuals and pretty unselfconscious heroism, no matter how ridiculous it potentially looks.

Both great movies, with issues. Flawed gems.

This one shot has more soul than anything Villeneuve can produce.

Who's the baron harkonen in htis dishonest and soulless remake

>not daydreamy
>character often go in long philosophical asides

>not horror
>literally the entire setting is full of body horror, manpulation and domination

Dunno but im willing to bet his a straight pedo now. Can't have franks homophobic views in this dune movie big no no.
