Hollywood makes a ton of stupid movies with stupid characters. The criticism is justified to a degree, but the majority of the hate comes because lonely men felt slighted that they put a girl in that roll. I got news for you lads, all star wars is shit. luke skywalker was a shit character and the only reason anyone with any brains watched the originals when they came out was because the effects were so cool compared to anything else we had, not because the story was good. now everyone can do that shit so all you are left with is a gay little starshit flick with some dumb broad at the helm, "why is anyone even mentioning it?" is the real question.

Well, sure some of the people have character, the same can be said for the prequels, the problem is that the sequel characters by and large have none to speak of.

She was suppose to be the young, nubile princess that was suppose to make the audience fall in love with her. However, the negro she partnered with for the majority of the trilogy created a dichotomy which was hard to swallow for most brainlet consumers of mass market cinema.

Yeah, the only change here now is Buffy, Alice (Resident Evil/Mila), Xena, and so forth is that nerd-boys now have this weird thing where they are sad about being lonely, but decide to hate women because of that. So it's hard to have a Buffy now even if you build a good story.

The character was written with only 1% of the absolute minimum detail required, for an actor to give a Razzie worthy performance. There was no way to get something good out of her. Lawrence Olivier in drag wouldn't be able to get something worthwhile out of it. If there is anything remotely likable about Rey, it is entirely due to Daisy's visage and nothing else. I am really amazed how this characters wasn't left on the cutting room floor.

alright taking the bait: there's tons of movies with amazing visuals these days, start with mouse wars. almost none of them will be remembered fondly as classics because the script and characters are not compelling.
