Anyone else glad they got to experience Blockbuster Video?
Anyone else glad they got to experience Blockbuster Video?
no
imagine the smell
I mostly went to private video libraries as a child, we didn't have blockbuster where I grew up. The only time I've ever been one it was a lot more sterile than what I was used to, and they much less N64 games. Fuck Blockbuster
yes i miss it, weekends just aren't the same
Smelled like...faint bleach and air conditioner air.
Blockbuster would have been a major fucking vector for coronavirus. Would have been a riot.
I went to a lot of smaller video rental stores but yeah, I member.
No. It was filthy.
Being a leaf i liked Jumbo video more, better popcorn.
It was all little neighborhood joints when my parents got a VCR in 1981.
Xtra Vision was fun, all of you Northern Irish and Irish people on Yas Forums probably remember it. I think they moved on to doing online stuff only, not sure.
The Jumbo Video by my house had a horror section in a separate room that was decorated with all kinds of morbid stuff like the heads of characters like freddy and jason and chucky on spikes in a fake graveyard, and a big cardboard cut out of elvira. i used to be scared shitless to go into that area but always did.
My grandma was the manager of a mom and pop video rental store, so I never really got to experience Blockbuster.
Still, she'd always get me a Sega game for the weekend, and a few movies. Sucked when they closed down, but I got all those games and VHSes I wanted.
Yeah but lets not lie, they were overpriced. Other video stores were often cheaper and/or better.
One I went to went out of business well before Holly Wood video or Family Video
Wow.
>Way back in the far off year of 2015 I went into a Blockbuster Video Rental Parlor.
>I was searching for taffy, jujubees and She's All That on BETA-MAX cassette.
>Unfortunately the clerk told me they only had it on LASER-DIDC.
shut the fuck up you larping zoomer faggot
Hell yes, videos stores were awesome. Going with friends or a chick, picking a movie based on how good the cover art was, picking out some snacks, and just making a whole special night for kino. Now you just mindlessly scroll through an infinite list of bullshit that spans 9 streaming services.
Yes, I remember me and my gf used to run up there like 3 times a day in the summer and watch movies, buy candy, have sex, hang out in her pool, etc. Going to Blockbuster was awesome during summertime in high school. Something special about browsing box arts, covers, etc. I found a lot of cool games that way too. I loved Blockbuster. I also had a local videostore too. It was dark and musty, but total kino was located there. I miss it bros.
>going to Blockbuster/Hollywood Video with friends
>rent some movies and some vidya
>grab some candies and soda from the front
Its weird, its like I remember so clearly the last time I was there. God I miss being young. I miss having friends. It was simpler back then.
Me too, user. Me too. I remember some Fridays me and my friends would pool our money together to buy some used anime movie or something. Often they were shit but we all had a good time watching them together. My friend Tim got to keep all of them cuz he had the biggest house and biggest TV.
Yes I was with my little brother and the beautiful girl from the pom squad with green emerald eyes was with her little sister. She talked to me because we were in wood shop together. Now we have two kids.
I always remember the smell walking in, i remember the first video we got was scary movie. Always loved watching the trailers they showed on the tv in the corner.
Did anyone have a porn section at blockbuster
>go to video rental store to rent new hot game
>they're all out
>pick some other game
>it's all scratched and freezes in game
no and i don't miss it
Why it fucking sucked? when you really think about it if you got there after 4:30pm on a Friday all the new releases were already checked out
Downloading movies is so much better now zoomers dont know how good they have it
New movie releases at the theater:
>download a TS.HD.x264 or HD.cam version the day its released if you cant wait
>a month later you can DL a 1080p HC rip
>a month later you can DL a 4k bluray rip
ALL FOR FREE
yeah I sure miss paying to watch movies in shitty VHS or DVD quality damn I wish Blockbuster was still around
I miss Blockbuster a lot. I guess just the overall atmosphere is nostalgic. But more or less I miss always going over to my friend's house on the weekends. Going out to rent a couple of movies and/or games. It just had a proper placement in getting out during the weekend routines. I also watched a shit ton of anime that I otherwise wouldn't have. As back then watching anime online wasn't what it is today.
>rent pokemon from blockbuster as a kid
>its fully completed
>cant reset the game because some fucker has put his hard earned time into it
>cant keep playing as theres nothing to do in the game
no i dont miss blockbuster
God I miss the days of going to Xtra Vision
ITT
