He made mad money starring in dozens of Taken like movies and now he's old

He admitted on television that he only did Taken for easy money and a French holiday, thinking it wouldn't get a theatrical release, and he seemed utterly embarrassed by its success. However, the easy money kept coming and in the end, his credibility was the thing that was really taken.

The first Taken was peak action kino.

I get why people enjoy it, but it's cheesy and cliched with a shit script and Neeson was clearly not bringing his A game. Aside from having a name actor at the centre who can be watchable even when he's not trying, it's no different to the sort of DTV stuff people shit out with the likes of Seagal

No, it's not, Taken is a very well made action film, it does have an air of cheap quality but it's good nonetheless.

I literally opened by saying I get why people enjoy it, but there's absolutely nothing original or creative about it and Besson keeps banging out generic action scripts of the exact same calibre because they're so cheap and easy for him to have produced. Taken is just the one that the general public actually liked because they got lucky with a good actor who admitted that he was willing to slum it
