If we could find a way to mine the salt from Mike & Rich over Picard, we'd have a neverending supply. Picard was disappointing but it wasn't the end of the world. There were some decent characters like Rios, Seven, Riker and Raffi (when she was sober). Also, Data's sendoff was far superior than what he got in Nemesis. It certainly had a better start than STD did in its first season, its only serious permanent mis-steps are in killing Hugh and Icheb - and let's be honest, Icheb was easily the second-worst character on Voyager next to Neelix and nobody should really care about him.

Also, the Picard tie-in novel about the evacuation is genuinely good and would have made for a much better season of TV than we actually got.
