Why do fictional star ships have an external bridge with a vunerable window when they could have an internal bridge with a main viewer that views only what external camera's display?

Because windows are the best defense against stealth ships

This is mainly a problem in star trek and not many other shows desu.

In pic they are clearly using an eternal camera, its not a window. And the bidge is set quite deep into its position and probably the most heavily armoured part of the ship anyway, since its so small it would be economical to armour it.

Pretty sure it's a viewscreen not a window.

And why don't they have any seatbelts?

What was their tax policy?

7% VAT on transparent aluminum.

Re-imagined Battlestar Galactica doesn't have this problem.

There are 2 bridges, also real ships have the same thing on a bridge

Actually, you fucking casual, that IS a screen with a camera view. That’s how they enhance and zoom shit. When they want to see stuff out of the window (which they usually make Geordi La Forge do because he’s got SCIENCE VISION), they have to go to a separate room with a window.

Was it only a real window with Star Trek Beyond or did it also happen in Generations or whatever?

That’s not a window.

There’s a main bridge with a view screen and a battle bridge with a window. Ships that are cloaked can often still be seen with the naked eye.

I'm not so sure about Voyager, but no, they didn't have any real windows on the bridge.

the most logical place for a bridge is in the core of the ship, where it is best protected

It's a problem in Star Wars too

Drei meter dickes Terkonit is the only logical solution.

The viewscreen is literally just a TV, behind it is armor plating. You can watch it in voyagers year of hell when it gets BTFO and crazy cathy crashes the ship...again.
Trek ships have 2 bridges, a normal one and a smaller emergency ops center in the central superstructure, they can also route controls to engineering

Sorry user, but now all bridges have giant glass windows as a view screen. Star trek is dead after JJ and his friends got their hands on it.

Who?

star wars isnt sci fi its fantasy, they can do what they want. It doesnt matter how stupid it is.

yep i though so too

In Star Wars' defense, they actually use windows, not a viewscreen, so it makes sense that the bridge is exposed.

>a civilization that has risen above using filthy currency
>what is their tax policy?
diaf

>JJ and his friends
Yeah, no. Those don't count.

Reminder that Felix Gaeta did nothing wrong, and they still fucked him over. Bastards.

Because this. (Geth Dreadnought)

Dude knew what he was talking about.

Also as this dude said, that is clearly a viewscreen, it's the back of the ship. And they don't have any bridge windows in star trek. Just in people rooms and 10forward. Why do you think the captain always says "onscreen".

It’s not a window it’s a view screen.

you will die with nothing

Born with nothing, die with nothing, what have you lost? NOTHING.

Into the airlock you go

When I was a kid, I didn't realize the Enterprise bridge was actually the very tip-top of the saucer section. This is probably the single worst place to put the bridge.
