Never thought he's patrician
Ozu, Kiarostami
What films would you pick, Yas Forums?
Mandingo (1975)
Pasolini's Trilogy of Life, In the Mood for Love, the Seventh Seal, Stalker, Solaris, the Cremator, Brief Encounter, Throne of Blood
It is hard to narrow it down though.
>Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006)
>Piranha 3DD (2012)
>The Holy Mountain (1973)
>Jack and Jill (2011)
>The Hungover Games (2014)
Probably something like
>Yasujiro Ozu - Good Morning
>John Cassavetes - The Killing of a Chinese Bookie
>Luchino Visconti - The Leopard
>Errol Morris - Vernon, Florida
>Guy Maddin - My Winnipeg
>Michael Haneke - The Piano Teacher
>Powell & Pressburger - A Matter of Life and Death
Yeah, I'd be happy with that.
Armageddon, since all the picks have to be from the Anus Films Criterion series.
Ozu and Kiarostami are such basic ass 'cinephile' choices. It's like gushing about Bresson or Godard, or Audrey Hepbern or Anna Karina being your favorite sex symbols/crushes.
>Ozu and Kiarostami are such basic ass 'cinephile' choices.
Yes but avoiding something just because it is seen is "basic" is itself just as basic, only with some extra sophomoric neurosis added into the mix.
I'll take the lot!
Kiarostami is not basic.
Audrey Hepburn is hot as hell though
>John Cassavetes - The Killing of a Chinese Bookie
confirmed for shit taste
found the emotionally stunted one
I remember first seeing Ozu's stuff in a Japanese film elective I took in college. It was kinda mesmerizing.
Zodiac (2007)
>tootsie
>patrician
yikes
Nah, she's cute but not hot. You bought into the meme, fag.
>Ikiru
>Seventh Seal
>The House That Jack Built
>There Will Be Blood
>Unforgiven
based
also based
Based picks aside from Tootsie. Shit, unfunny, overrated film
>The Seventh Seal
Overrated meme film
Based with the exception of Stardust Memories, can't stand Woody Allen.
i hate ozu desu, its the crystalization of rigid japanese social norms taken to the extreme. soulless, motionless, superficial, repressed people with permanent forced grins on their faces who somehow can only muster the least amount of emotion when it comes to gossiping about other peoples inconsequential affairs. I guess you have to see it from the perspective of the time, shit like who marries who and people staying unmarried was a big deal then i guess, but i still find is extremely repulsive to look at and i cant say i ever feel any such strong negative emotions against any other directors style or subject matter. so fuck ozu and fuck everyone who pretends to like him, there is no other director that makes me dismiss a persons overall taste if they like his films other than ozu.
Even back in 2015 who gave a fuck what Michael Cera thought
Great picks
I'm planning to watch some of Powell & Pressburger's films, where should I start? A Matter of Life and Death, The Red Shoes, Black Narcissus, A Canterbury Tale?
Have sex
what for?
Black Narcissus. All of those are great though, and don't forget Life and Death of Colonel Blimp
ConAir
Cheers
You're a fat faggot
Imagine being this much of a fucking 21st century man-animal that you can't even enjoy a film with values from just 60 years ago because nobody is dying their hair and having casual sex
