Haha I do the same but with pictures of actresses and dick instead of finger.
>intellectual discussion of arthouse and classic cinema
Film is inherently anti-intellectual. All the discussion in these threads is a farce since you fail to realize this. Like theater, which at least doesn't pretend to be realistic medium, film is an inherently a sick, dishonest medium. The fantasies portrayed through film are more often than not sick, grotesque and ugly to the core. There is no creativity in film, neither on the part of the viewer nor the part of the filmmaker.
Recently watched Three Colors: Blue and loved it, will probably watch the other 2. Anybody got any reccs based on that?
So did anyone find Possessor or Siberia or am I just running a fool's errand at this point
>Recently watched Three Colors: Blue and loved it,
Is that all you can be bothered to say? Surely there was more going through your mind when you finished watching it than "loved it"? Or has the medium completely destroyed your brain?
Dekalog, specifically episode 5 and 6. Those are his best. Also red > blue

Film doesn't pretend to be realistic.
Double Life of Veronique
Somebody posted a screenshot of Siberia leak but refused to share it.
How do you go about analyzing movies? Is there something you need to know or are most movie analysts just making shit up as they go along?
I wasn't under the impression that I needed to give a full fledged review of why I loved it given that probably nobody gives a shit, I didn't know you cared user :3
Interesting, didn't know what else to check out from him but it looks interesting, thanks user
Parklife
It depends on how you want to analyze it, do you want to do film analysis or theme analysis? What I mean by film analysis is looking at how it was shot and to what effect the director made certain choices to achieve some goals.
Theme analysis is a lot more difficult and can be a lot more bullshit.
Both.
Literally just write down what you think about the movie. If you are low IQ, it will be called ramblings, if youre a midwit, it will be called a film analysis, if youre high IQ it will be called ramblings.
I watched it a couple weeks ago. It's an interesting period piece, but the plot is a bit thin, and unlike 'Tommy,' it doesn't feature full songs.
Watch films, not capeshit or Hollywood trash. Try starting at German expressionism.
This is /film/, here we care about analysis
But what did it MEAN?
>Watch films, not capeshit or Hollywood trash
I have no problem with capeshit or Hollywood movies. German expressionism is cool too (the cabinet of Dr. Caligari is one of my favorite movies of all time).
The problem I have is with directors such as Tarkovsky, Bunuel, Fellini, Kieslowsky, Bergman (god I hate this guy), Haneke etc. They're all anti-intellectual trash. You simply cannot express a coherent idea in the form of a sub 2 hour film. Pretending you can makes you an aniti-intellectual fool and a charlatan. They're the equivalent of Deepak Chopra quoting and misusing results from quantum mechanics to woo their audience and give himself airs and authority.
The most a film can aspire to be is entertaining.
Is it really the greatest film ever made? Other than the beautiful cinematography and great use of color and the perfect twist I don't really see why it's number 1
No, but i love it too. Welles disliked it iirc.
>caring about anyone but oneself's rankings
You're a faggot.
The first time I saw it I thought it was just okay. The second time I liked it a lot more. And the third time, I was convinced that it really is the greatest of all time.
>Godard
Cringe
It's like I overdosed on comfy.
What's /film/'s opinion on this film and Cassavetes in general?
no u

You don't see why you're wrong and dumb? Also there is a plethora of masterful shorter films which convey ideas while being very stylish and thought provoking
>Zéro de conduite
>La Jete
>Un chien andalou
>Rabbits
It really does creep up on you. First time I saw it I was like meh but when I rewatched it recently it was absolutely mesmerizing.
Haven't seen that one, but Cass is based
Yo mamma
What are the best Where's Waldo films, other than Journey to the West by Tsai Ming-liang?
