Based on what?

Not everyone is glued to the TV all the time you nerd. Also he looked way different with a beard

All logic in the this film was thrown out when Henry said garlic liquefied in the pan

Nobody involved was the most high profile gangster in the world.
The movie literally happened, Henry Hill was a real person and eventually stopped giving a fuck about witness protection to regularly making public appearances and make a drunken ass out of himself.
You're a fucking retard.

If there was an extremely high profile case going on everyone would know the face of the bad guy. Doesn’t just have to be from TV.

It still doesn’t make sense. He definitely would have been spotted and whacked back then.

actually he was kicked out because he literally could not stop doing drugs

>Most high profile gangster in the world
what? he was just some underling in a small crew

This literally happened, brainlet. It's a true story.

t. Dumbfuck retard that doesn’t know how to slice garlic properly

No, he wouldn't have, because he wasn't. What don't you get about this? Maybe organized crime isn't what you think it is.

All of Hill's bullshit is pretty spurious because he's a lying degenerate but what he said as a key witness held up in court. His adventures after that, including when he passed out drunk and got raped and extorted, are a different story.

Yeah, retard IRL left the getaway van in front of his girlfriends house for two days and even put it in front of a fire hydrant.

You don't know shit about the mafia lmao

>you don’t get whacked for becoming a rat in the mafia

Hurrrr durrrrrr

>he thinks the mafia have mossad-tier agents keeping tabs on every single member at all times

Top Definition:
Based
Agreeable. Admirable. Worthy of support.

Often used in contexts where the action or opinion ignores popular trends and social conventions or requires special effort.

Used either seriously or tongue-in-cheek to encourage eccentric behavior for comedic effect.
A: I threw away my TV. I only read books now.
B: That's based.

A: I broke all the lamps in my apartment. No more bowing down to big electricity.
B: Based.

Based God coined the term:

In an interview with Complex, Lil’ B was asked what “based” meant.

“Based means being yourself. Not being scared of what people think about you. Not being afraid to do what you wanna do. Being positive. When I was younger, based was a negative term that meant like dopehead, or basehead. People used to make fun of me. They was like, ‘You’re based.’ They’d use it as a negative. And what I did was turn that negative into a positive. I started embracing it like, ‘Yeah, I’m based.’ I made it mine. I embedded it in my head. Based is positive.”

I hope this clears up any confusion moving forward. Feel free to copy and pasta this if anyone else has the same question. =)

Henry Hill was busted for selling meth in North Platte, Nebraska when I was a kid. My dad arrested him and interviewed/ interrogated him about it. Henry was working a shit job at a Denny’s off I-80 that was set up by witness protection and he couldn’t resist getting back into the whole crime and money life. My dad was so psyched to have busted and met the real Henry Hill he had me and my brother watch Goodfellas with him when we were 8 and 4 years old. Link is the real Henry Hill. His likeness to Ray Liotta is astounding.

hey user thanks for the story, this thread looks dead probably but that was worth reading the rest of it for.

Damn, fucken crazy if true

The Irishman was better

>Most high profile gangster in the world
Michael Franzese always said GoodFellas portrayed Henry Hill as a much more important figure than he was. IRL he was a random Associate, every family had dozens of guys like him. BTW Franzese was such a big shot he's also in the film, see the bar scene.

>Nationwide news broadcasts of the trial 24/7 both leading up to it, during it, and after it
Were there anything like this? I didn't find anything that'd reliably confirm or deny it. Maybe Scorsese portrayed this with more artistic freedom (so to speak...), or those cameras in the courtroom could have belonged to local or regional channels. Either way, it wasn't that influential.

>Can just move to another part of the country, same haircut, same face, and be safe
Witness Protection. I'm sure they had their methods. Plus he got moved 5 times in the next 10 years, and it all happened in the 80s. Nobody whacked Hill even after he got kicked out of the program after a decade, then decided to show himself to the public eye after GoodFellas.

Stop making these guinea-dago threads

Doesn’t matter how you cut garlic it physically cannot melt into a liquid

Henry was a bullshitter taking notes from a bullshitter who didn't observe it. In the narrative, Henry believes this because Paulie told him. He's an unreliable narrator, you can see this when he thinks the helicopter is following him but he later confirms he was paranoid. The reason he didn't get to confirm the bullshit about Paulie's garlic was because he never had a chance to call Paulie out on his shit, out of respect I guess. If Paulie said something happens then to Henry, it happens and you don't talk back to your superior.

This guy is like IRL Henry Hill, whoring himself on tv and internet about his past life for money

The biggest inconsistency is that Paulie is doing the prepwork AFTER Vinnie does the sauce. Why the fuck would you add garlic AFTER the tomatoes and onion?

have sex

This was before the Internets. Nobody outside his neighborhood really knew or cared about it.
