A Batman universe "grounded in reality", and some of these real people were given a choice to blow up the other ferry. But they don't.
...if this was real-life, with the same choice. There wouldn't be a tough-talking suit that chickens out at the last minute. There wouldn't be some born-again Christian monk prisoner throwing the detenator out the window.....no, there would be a guy straight out of San Quentin's death row, ripping the head off the monk, taking the detonator from his hand and flipping the switch.....but not before the guy in the suit on the other boat shits himself before flipping his switch too.
