I've seen plenty of people bash it here

I've shown it to people who I'd describe as having an average interest in film, and they told me it was a miserable, incomprehensible mess to sit through

The "filter" does more flavoring then filtering. Honestly, it adds a slight amount of salt into the water as it passes through. Any difference in taste is usually attributable to the salt first, the charcoal (which is the primary component of the filter) second, and the removal of any foreign particulates third.

Tellingly, Brita actually released a second type of filter, that is advertised as actually capable of removing lead and heavy metals, along with other pollutants. Things that the original type of filter is NOT advertised as capable of doing.
