No because jumpscares break tension. Also around 2010 when jumpscares were most popular, horror films were not complex they were just full of tension breaking jumpscares. The whole point of a jumpscare is just to give you a seratonin hit, thats it

My favorite one was that one with production logos, I think it was a russian tv or film company, or at least I remember some cyrilic text. Well, it had different versions and one of them had an screamer.
To break tension you need to create it, first. Definitely a complex mechanism. Also, the short terms effects of serotonin are way more complex than you think. Not to mention is not the only neurotransmitter involved in the action.
