Whether you admit it or not, all of you arthouse fags are just little Rian Johnsons, but with less money.
Arthouse fags are the goths of cinema

>being against mainstream makes them intellectual and deep
no but it does make a film much more interesting. of course there are shitty “arthouse” movies as well.
just say it's "pretentious" and we can all laugh at you for being mad that people enjoy putting a little effort into the medium
>not being a fan of both the extreme aesthetic experimentation AND classic genre excellence
>think they're unique but all have the same aesthetic and opinions
Buy that's wrong you retard
i mean thats a very american way of putting it, arthouse is about the directors vision first and foremost allowing them to be free with whatever stylisation and themes they want to mix in with it. You probably don't enjoy it since you cling so dearly to the cliches any modern films of the decade you grew up in
film books usually teach you that Americans are impatient when it comes to film
i ain't jokin'
>american
literally obsessed
You could say the same about punk and yet all punk sounds the same
>all punk sounds the same
could you at least do a LITTLE research before pulling things out of your ass
>film books
written by the same pretentious people who do arthouse
no
>pretentious
There it is, pack it up everyone he's just a fucking pseud.
AAAA FUCK THE GOVAMINT AAAAA *strums one and a half chord on guitar*
>arthouse is about the directors vision first and foremost
That's more of an auteur theory thing. A film can be arthouse and not necessarily reflect the director's vision
what's a half chord?
>putting in effort
>"oh gee look, I used some fancy angle that usually isn't used because it looks shit. I'm very creative. And here I oversaturated the colors, nobody else does that either hahahaha I showed ya!"
yet somehow it's always the same slow boring shit about some slow boring damaged people in the end, it just happens to be filmed slightly differently. the same type of creativity that "quirky" women think they have by being soooo weird and like, stuff, and like ....
Hollywood puts way more effort into movies. Or at least used to up until the 2000s or so. Except Hollywood actually cares about what makes the movie good, arthouse is just solipsistic "being different"
its not being obsessed when all mass produced. and yes man movies come from america
this user thinks he can do anything he wants to but simply chooses not to do any of it.

what a terrible thread

>Hollywood doesn't make arthouse
>"being different is solipsistic"
that's so much cope I can't even engage it
that's an entirely different statement than you rendered about americans a second ago. Obsessed.
>But in the American cinema especially, the story reigns supreme, even if no one seems to take the story very seriously.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>>"being different is solipsistic"
Yeah, it's the self-absorbed desire to be seen as creative and trailblazing without actually having a new good idea, so you take something established, and twist it around to create something "new" even if the result is garbage. That's what Rian Johnson does.
you must work in a creative field for a living user, with such informed opinions like those. Would you care to indulge this thread by posting some of your work?
Here's a good example: youtube.com
>man who makes people disappear by eating and digesting them with his butt, including children
this is what happens when you get too obsessed with being seen as unique and special - you end up throwing all reason and decency out of the window and creating degenerate disgusting shit like this while pretending it's art
>trailer edited in the same "arthouse style" as any other arthouse trailer, with carefully calculated "quirks" and gloomy atmosphere to make the arthouse fag feel at home
