no because it was motivated purely by money and to appeal to r*dditors

star wars is for kids

From Disney? No.
At the very best they would have made a trilogy of TFA; stale, derivative, soulless and designed to kickstart a SWCU

called it in one. There was nothing behind the eyes of this movie, like many chinese people. It existed purely to try and make money, no attempt at a message or a story was attempted, beyond what was superficially required to put something in cinemas.

I used to love star wars, I haven't bothered since last jedi, and its not even that movie im that angry at. Its the whole system that is prepared to destroy anything good in order to spin money. the brand is almost completely trashed at this point, at least for me.

The prequels were terrible, but at least lucas was TRYING to tell a story, not JUST make money, though im sure he was doing that as well.

not with these cunts incharge

is this a blooper?

>like many chinese people

this.

of all the takes, this is the one they went with. imagine the others.

Lmao bug crusher

heres what I dont get ok. Even if you are somebody like rob iger or some exec who doesnt have the first clue about sci fi or star wars, HOW can you read this and not think it's terrible trash and you should fire this woman.

Nope.
It got through every phase of filming and editing and was either not spotted, or was put in deliberately.
Given she reacts as if she'd been hit, the latter is most likely

>HOW can you read this and not think it's terrible trash and you should fire this woman
If you build your brand's PR around how woke you are, you are tying your hands - because if they fired that woman, for any reason, no matter how justified, she WILL take to twitter, she WILL me too somebody, and the twitter mob WILL burn the brand. Disney has bound themselves to a derailing train.

>this made it into the theatrical release of a star wars film
>they never hired a proper duelling/weapon specialist for filming
really makes you think

Ugggh this shit is so eye-rollingly cringey

Like I honestly don't even mind women working on 'nerdy' media and creating female characters but this shit is so incredibly tacky. Like self-inserting is very poor form as it is but inserting something like this into an already established universe that is totally at odds with that sort of aesthetic is so kitschy.

why didnt he just stab her with his left hand
what happened to the knife in his left hand, did he drop it? What a casual simp

I dont see how anyone, even a really 'woke' writer, can read this and think it has quality. I mean regardless of your politics, there are some certain basic aspects to writing compelling fiction right? This literally comes across like fanfiction written by a 6 year old?

it's a mixture of committees and yes men even if you think it's shit you keep your mouth shut so that you can get paid and go home

The most common theory is that they just forgot to film the part that connects it to the headlock, and rather than reshoot it they just edited out the knife and hoped nobody would notice.

Their self-inserts never keep the body weight. They're never fat.

>they just forgot to film the part that connects it to the headlock

>hoped nobody would notice
it got noticed, whats the next step of your master plan?

Is this loopy bitch saying that a military commander is getting her intel from astrology?

honestly reading this I just feel incredulous at the audacity of it.

Where have all the good writers gone?

Other jobs. Remember the writer's guild strike a few years back? Most were let go and never came back.

Getting someone else to crash this franchise

It was completely possible; you keep Lucas on and surround him with real and experienced writers for development, don't let an overly ambitious hack take over Lucasfilm, let Lucas direct.
I'm convinced no other director would have been able to match Lucas's tone because even the mandalorian doesn't feel like actual star wars.

Even if they had Lucas, the writers they surrounded him with would have hero complexes and be unable to challenge him.

Not letting KK go from secretary to film producer was a mistake, she clearly doesn't know what shes doing.

You’re right about the mandalorian. It is the only semi-watchable nu-Star Wars stuff, but it still feels like someone saying “look dude Star Wars stuff!” as opposed to actual Star Wars.
