Why do you care?
If wanting an affable, spunky woman who doesn't henpeck or emasculate you at every turn is a flawed perception of women, I'd say that illustrates more about women themselves than it does men.
in our post-modernist reality we're fortunate enough to have vapid women who aspire to be MPDGs, so at the very least MPDGs became real once they became a successful film trope. Whether the chicken or the egg came first doesn't even matter anymore
I think they're a deliberately saccharine version of BPD art hoes
Who writes screenplays? Undesirable liberal betamales who went to film school.
Women are allowed infinite amounts of unrealistic, hyper-desirable comforting fantasy romance characters but the moment there's an archetype of the same unrealistic nature that is appealing to straight men it's suddenly a serious problem that needs academic fucking tier "deconstruction" and analysis whilst vapid romantic delusions that appeal to women and fags continue on as the romantic fast food that they should just be allowed to be.
It's all so tiresome
>a woman who is happy and not a bitch
>unrealistic and flawed perceptions of women?
>unrealistic and flawed perceptions of women
Sounds like you haven't found your MPDG IRL yet
dubs don't lie
Like anything, the answer is both.
Sometimes they're well written examples of pussy-on-a-pedestal syndrome. Sometimes they're poorly written cliches. Sometimes they're a deconstruction of one and or both of those things.
>Sounds like you haven't found your MPDG IRL yet
I did and she broke me when it didn't work out.
mine was a heroin junkie. we had two kids. she lives in a commune now. MGTOW
i do like that the idea of a woman making the first move or romancing a man is literally considered misogynistic to portray.
for the record, they're usually shit writing. but offensive?
100% correct and based
You know you're in for a shit film when the plot circles around the 'deconstruction' of the female gender. Une femme esta une femme, take that as you will
Give one (1) example of each
>i do like that the idea of a woman making the first move or romancing a man is literally considered misogynistic to portray.
I wouldn't go that far but it's definitely wish fulfillment, doesn't happen unless you're chad
Perhaps
the biggest cope is making believe women like them don't exist, they do lol, i've met plenty of them. they're like pleasant airheads
You'll notice this trope a lot. MPDGs are always fucked up terrible people. You've gotta get it out of your system though, otherwise you'll get stuck with it forever. And like chicken pox, the younger you get over it the better.
Mine was just short of a runaway, she joined the Marines shortly after and went to Japan to take every black dick in the far east. Last I heard she was living in her truck and doing fieldhand work in Montana.
its just like anime where the girls are all perfect and fulfill the loser protagonists fantasy
so yes its anime-tier writing
I’ve always thought that “manic pixie dream girl” is just a gay way to denigrate fun adventurous quirky girls like it’s a bad thing. It always sounded like roastie salt to me, cutting down superior competition.
500 Days of Summer is a decent example of pussy on a pedestal. I'd say the chick from SLC Punk is kind of a cheap cliche, although she does play an important part of the main character's arc.
I'm sure there's a million indie flicks with terribly written "deconstructions" of it too, but I'm not gonna subject myself to that.
Honestly I'd like to see more Manic Spritely Dream Boy art. Surely there's some gender swapped version and no, generic "bad boy" doesn't count. That's the equivalent of generic "slut"
That's only because you confused "manic" with "maniac".
>Manic Spritely Dream Boy art
What would timothee chalamet in lady bird be?
He was so unappealing to me but apparently girls went crazy over him
Damn user, don't go all out like that.
That's probably a good example. The boy version would have to be soft and unabrasive. So yeah, a prettyboy who read poetry or something would probably be it.
This.
We haven't had a Manic Pixie in at least a decade. It's died out. Time to move on.
Reads like some oscarbait movie, hold up goy let me see if I can get Goldstein and Mordecai to fund this
>So yeah, a prettyboy who read poetry or something would probably be it
Generally they're a pretty sexless concept so only really appeal to pre/early teens, as soon as the estrogen really starts to kick in women get interested in bad boys.
summer was well done though
They aren't even real. Katherine from Jules et Jim is considered an early MPDG and so is Patricia from Breathless by (((Nathan Rabin))) which proves it's just a gibberish term he invented to slander great movies he doesn't even understand. Don't listen to his garbage. Treat each film as its own.
bros...
>giving men an idealistic romance scenario that meets all of his needs is bad
>romance stories catered for women are totally fine tho OMG A HOT BILLIONAIRE WHO IS ALSO A FITNESS MODEL AND RUNS A NON-PROFIT ANIMAL CLINIC YAAAAAAASSSS
also that movie where the kid is from mars or some shit and he comes to earth to connect with his dad The Space Between Us
Where would the type of real life women who have a problem with this stock character even turn to see themselves represented accurately in film? Misery? What's Eating Gilbert Grape? East of Eden?
>is also a dom daddy who will sexually punish her
Don’t forget that
Dangerously based
The hate for this archetype as some tired trope has always struck me as salty roasties trying to justify being lazy holes.
The personality equivalent of Health At Every Size.
because if women were portrayed accurately in film they would be completely unlikable
That makes sense too, MPDGs are a teen concept, adult men just find them tiring.
im just going to come out and say it
all women are whores
I find your post shallow and pedantic.
