Arrival was kino save for the love interest
>YEEE HAWH WE GONNA BLOW US UP SOME ALIENS BOYS FOR TRUMP FOR WHITE AMERICA
what happens after we death process bros
Either
>paradise
or
>nothing lol
If it's nothing who cares. If it's paradise, great, I'm gonna learn to sail and play loads of video games.
we get gfs and lose our virginity hopefully
This is literally the best movie that's been released in the past 5 years
Prove me wrong you can't
Fuck interstellar
Fuck oblivion (no oblivion is awesome but not as awesome as arrival)
My one regret was that I was sober when I first saw this
This movie fucking sucked so hard. They literally had to come in and wake everyone in the theater up because we all fell asleep before the end. When we were leaving I heard an elderly guy tell his wife he had more fun on Omaha Beach
What is it with Villeneuve and incels? Seems like that is his core fanbase.
hell bro
you seriously dont believe that if aliens made contact with every major population center on earth that not one single group of people would take hostile action?
>not manchester by the sea
I, Robot was underrated.
this and checked
BEST: Incendies
WORST: Maelstrom
FAVORITE: Sicario
OVERRATED: Bladerunner 2049
UNDERRATED: Polytechnique
Chickflick snoozefest
I honestly think Annihilation does everything Arrival did better and with more of a well rounded premise and theme
I think theyre both excellent movies but at the moment Prisoners is villeneuves best maybe dune will dethrone it
yeah but it should have been Islamic terrorists talking in funny accents and then the marines protect the aliens
Based
>maybe dune will dethrone it
this will be a huge dissappointment
For all this movie's bizarre flaws, the ending struck me really hard. Just the concept of knowing how shitty it's going to turn out, how it's all going to crumble down and fail. But you buckle down and do it anyway, because you'd happily take that emotional spiral a million times over to experience those blissful moments.
My problem is they gave away the ending in the trailer.
>HURRRRRRRRR LINGUISTICS
It's fucking trash
liked the film but not the overarching story of time and hawkeye
The love interest was the whole plot of the movie and the best part.
I agree. I’m a fan of Denis the Menace and Arrival was his worst by far.
Agreed. This movie may be in my top 10 and its one of Villenueve's best films.
>linking linguistics with essential meaning and postulating that it literally changes the way that we think, and that the way that we think changes our ability to view time
No it's actually fucking beautiful, and true
>and it just so cohencidentally happened to be white americans with redneck accents
You cease to exist. There is no paradise waiting for you, but there is no eternal damnation either. All your pains, anxieties, bad memories, all gone. Silence, peacefulness. Release.
such a nice additional touch: that she chooses that future despite knowing what's to come
The whole linguistics plotline with deciphering alien language was great
i hate that concept beyond anything
I see a lot of things like
And I feel like there’s a lot of other options. “Nothing” seems the most likely, but consider the following:
Maybe “you” are just a blank consciousness trapped inside of an animal body. You see what it sees, you feel what it feels. You could have experienced life as a starving African child, or as a 40’s housewife, or as Genghis Kahn—the only reason you weren’t is just random chance. You just happen to be experiencing whatever you are, and that’s just chance, and you’re stuck with it until whatever happens after.
We know the body dies. If the consciousness persists, why would it carry elements of the body? Memory and personality and identity are all biological constructs. So if there is a life after death, maybe it’s just a peaceful “Eh.”
Or, if the consciousness persists, why wouldn’t it experience something new? Again, there’s no reason for you to be you and not something else. So why wouldn’t you be something else? If there is that continuation. I hate to call it reincarnation, because it wouldn’t be the “same soul”; after all, identity is just biology.
Or maybe this is a simulation, and you wake up.
>If you could see your whole life laid out in front of you, would you change things?
You will be reborn as the entity and live the same life again.
It's both, check the dead sea scrolls and the nag hammadi scriptures. Take the gnostic pill
