What did you like/hate about this adaptation? What were some changes you thought were reasonable? Since Michael Ende hated the movie, would you guys like a more faithful adaptation?

Anyone who is literate and has half a brain should read The Neverending Story. Shameful how it doesn't get much recognition despite being one of the best fantasy works since LotR, imo. Massively deserves a long, comfy cuckflix series with Bastian's transformation for a tidy seasonal arc plus they could get SJW points for having pajeets despite them being sensibly baked into the book. I love Wolfgang's style but he gave Ende's work a lobotomy.

I read the book long after watching the movies and it made me hate the stupid goddamn movies. That's about all I can remember.

I still love this movie but after reading the book It's just not the same story it can be enjoyed as a fantasy film but I just want a more faithful adaptation that made Ende's work member-able while keeping the charm of the movie. Maybe Netflix can make a series like what they did with The Dark Crystal.

That would be amazing.

As a fat kid getting to the part where Bastian thinks about meeting the Childlike Empress but feels ashamed and thinks she'll just laugh at him fucked me up forever.

For someone who read the books, how would you direct The Neverending Story Netflix mini-series?
